    Very interesting views, everyone.

Vandoo, I think that calling a person a wuss for expressing their emotions is one of the reason so many men are detached from their families and relationships. If it is socially unaccpetable for people to express themselves then how can we inturn expect them to CARE for our military, the needy, the poor, and those who are down?

I don't think Mel Gibson went into this project to MAKE MONEY - he used his OWN money to make this film with the HUGE chance that it would be a box office flop. Can we condemn him for making a great movie, that people are flocking to see?

I am a Christian and I consider myself religious. I found this movie to be thought provoking and an eye opener. I didn't cry, but I had a huge lump in my throat during the entire movie.

I have heard some movie critics speculate on why Gibson just focused on the last moment of life with all the violence and not in any of Jesus works? They were saying that he wanted to capitalize on the violence because it would draw people into the box office.

I agree sugar..I dont think that he went into this movie looking to make money either..Ive watched him on tv and stuff talking about how he did this because he felt convicted and led by the Lord to do it. Some people may not believe in this type of thing but I do..

It isn't Jesus' works that are going to get those who believe in Him into Heaven. The fact that He DIED for us - so that he is held accountable for our sins and therefore we are able to be forgiven is the reason that we are able to go to Heaven. (of course, that is if we accept Him as our Lord and Savior - admit our sins - and pledge not to sin again to the best of our ability).

I believe THAT is the reason Mel focused on his Death.

Don't get me wrong I think Mel is a good person and all, but come on PPL I have heard him is several interviews. He is a smart business man and i commend him for finding a niche to make big bucks. He had a guarntee. More than 90% of all ppl belong to some denomination and putting something out their that would be controversial and violent, especially about this would guarntee box office sucess. Business is business and if this is the image people what to see him as, (this good christian all american) that is what they will see. He has made now over 600 million on this picture. Whats he going to do with the $$$? I know he says some of it will go to charities, but how much? It is a captialistic country of ours. Do you guys actually believe that just because someone portrays an image, thats the way they are in real life?? Image is everything in that city. Take off the rose colored glasses, this is Hollywood!

What do you mean Mel had a guarantee? The movie he made appealed to the masses - and it was based on JESUS! How rare is that? Do you what percentage of people in this country go to Church vs. 50 years ago? He was able to create a film that was so broadly appealing that even NON-Christians wanted to see it.

For all he knew, his movie could have been blacklisted in Hollywood by the numerous Jewish people who control many of the production companies and most of the film industry. Thankfully, Many Jews understood that Christians weren't blaming them for the death of Jesus (how could we, in our minds, Jesus is still alive).

Can you fault a man for making a low budget movie and having it be successful. Do you really think that Mel Gibson - with the millions of dollars he already has - would make a low budget film with the pure intent of Capiltalizing on Christian beliefs? Robert Redford founded the Cannes Film Festival, right? Hoards of low budget films are made yearly with famous names backing them - some flop, some do great (Ie: The Blair Witch Project). What do they all have in common?

                    1. Low budgets
                    2. The chance of failure or success
