Yes, bible states that man cannot earn his way into heaven. Your salvation was bought with a price. Jesus died on the cross for you. No matter how good you think you are your still a sinner as is EVERYONE else in this world. No one is saying they are better than you. Were just saved by grace through faith.

Saved by the grace of a Dictator god that pre-destins souls to live in an eternal fire. Not to mention YHWH changes his mind, which to me seems kind of weird for an omnipotent being.

GP, I respect your opinion but I think we should close this thread. Everyone who wanted to post, posted already and all this is going to lead to is a huge argument. In the end, we will all agree to disgree and nothing will have been gained by this. This is a tough subject to post on.

                    Thanks,
                    Ciph

I am in the same boat for the most part. However, I am catholic and go to Catholic Church. I do not agree with a lot of things. A lot of things I do. I choose which i will believe, and which I wont. (most catholics cant stand that I do this-other religions too)

the thread should have never been opened. i have participated in many of similar threads and it never is a good thread. people always wind up being pissed off. we all have our own beliefs and that should be the end of it. these boards (in my opinion) are no place for religion or politics. we are here to learn and be friends, not debate about our beliefs.

maybe yes, maybe no but the thread is here. take what you (everybody that reads) want and learn from it. For anybody who is keeping score, I will be in hell according to the christians, according to anyone who believes in a hell for that matter. I was brought up in a church of christ setting,.....needless to say, the best term, brainwashing, has already been used. That is what they do, and they rely on the simple minded to further their cause, those people who refuse to or do not want to think for themselves, those people who need some belief that there is something greater on 'the other side'. They need structure to their lives that they, themselves cannot provide.

You who are 'religous' per say try not to be offended at my words and thoughts. Mine, come from my own experiences and education. I will listen to those who have opinions, but I will respect those who are able to consider both sides of the 'argument'. If you refuse to listen or consider my thoughts, why should I listen to yours? I will listen, but you need more than a bible to turn my head.

I step down from my soapbox.

I dont like to preach on hell because I dont think it will win souls to Christ and for the pure fact I dont like talkin about it however, Hell is not going to be a fun place according to the Bible. Most of revelation is dedicated to the rapture and what happens afterwards...and hell is supposed to be worse. I forget the exact words but it says "men shall desire death and will not find it".
