My dad passed away in 2012 mom passed in 2008.
After dad passed my uncles thought they were entitled to some of dads things and helped themselves to it. His coin collection, his zippo lighter collection and other things.
Stealing is stealing in my opinion. I would have given those things to them if they asked.

When my grandparents passed it was the same thing. What is the matter with people to act like this?

i think that most families have those sort of people. that's why you have to have a will and note everything. dont let them take advantage of each other. or if you dont want the bickering leave your stuff to a charity or the state

My mom died and my idiot brother snuck in and took off with a haul of world war 2 memorabilia. I wondered wtf had happened to it until I was at his house and saw his world war 2 display in his house. asshole

We have people like that in my family too. It never ceases to amaze me how some people just don't care.

yup.. dad passed away few months ago. his " buddy " happened to find him and before calling me or the police he did some shopping. by the time i got there all the small expensive things where gone. gold coins, benchmade knife collection, cash. fvck head even tried to steal his motorcycles...

shit happens, people feel they deserve it and self justify their cause. i could of stirred the pot. i did make police reports of "missing" items but in the end what are physical trinquets worth. im good financially.. i dont have time to deal with a broke ass who has to steal to feel.. i let it go. in the end what is or was it really worth. life goes on i gotta live mine and holding anger anit going to do anything . he knows i have an attorney and will eat his ass so great thing is he stays away..

this is life. people get funny when it comes to money. today and everyday on..

Just the opposite here, I just lost my stepdad to cancer a few days ago and no one wants his things. All the things he's collected from traveling the world, and stuff from his days,..all discarded. Someone's whole life, just mostly thrown away and forgotten like nothing. [emoji17]

Unfortunately some families have those unsavory characters in them. I’m sorry you had to deal with that buddy

I think that there are simply people who reckon only with their own desires, regardless of the feelings of other people. I understand that in my life it is impossible to please everyone, but at least not to offend family members - here you can somehow make an effort and behave like a human being. Although they probably do not even think of this. Otherwise they would have behaved differently. And it looks like your uncles are just complete egoists.

My brother turned into a religious fanatic in order to keep his wife and was ramming it down everybodies throat and riding my ass to go to church. He was teaching Sunday school and telling me I was going to go to hell unless I did like him. The day after my mom went into the hospital , he left the country to go on a carribean cruise with his family. He would only visit my mom a few times a year while I was going to see her every day. The day after my mom died he was at her house with his pickup truck loading shit up.

That sux and I do think some people show up out of nowhere with their hands held out. I don't feel that will happen in my family. My parents are already giving away things, and even more so since this racket started

                            Re: peoples stuff

I feel you man. My grandparents owned 5,000 acres at the time of their death. Any logical person would assume that their 5 kids would get 1,000 acres each, but no.

My uncle who suffered a brain injury in a logging accident was tricked into signing over his share by my aunt... HIS OWN SISTER The injury left him with some difficulties, but he wasn't incapable of taking care of himself. It wouldn't have happened if she wasn't someone he trusted. He wasn't stupid, he was deceived.

That same aunt's daughter, a grown ass woman, made up a story that my other aunts husband molested her years ago and used this fairytale blackmail to get him to sell 500 acres to them for $50/acre. They tried to "buy" it all that way, but he said he'd rather take his chances in court against two meth-heads than lose everything. The vultures took the 750 and haven't spoken to us since. They did, however lose 100% of the land they accumulated from credit card debts and skipped bonds.

One of my cousins tried to enact "squatters law" on my dad's land, but failed miserably and ended up in prison for spitting on the judge because she knew she had hepatitis. The racial slurs she screamed at this well respected native American judge didn't help. Turns out they don't like being called slurs for Mexican either.

The only two that weren't gutted by them were my dad and youngest uncle. Their land was already fenced in and deeded separately from theirs, because they were the only ones who actually maintained the land before my grandparents died anyway. They were selfless enough to divide out their shares with the family members that were screwed over by my crazy aunt and her tactics. They even agreed that it was best to go ahead and divide the land up amongst ALL of their kids as well, so this crap wouldn't repeat in the event of their deaths.

It turned into three whole generations of surviving family members making a mockery of my grandparents hard work.
