  • Gold's Gym files for bankruptcy

Just heard Gold's gym filed for bankruptcy. Sucks to hear that. I figured there would be at least one that gets pushed over the edge with all these closures. I heard 24 hour fitness was contemplating it, but not sure how true that is.

that sucks...I mean it was a pinch of bs compared to the old Golds gym model but it was always good for a workout!

mine is a franchised location and they have been putting a ton of work in on it while they have been shut down. all the ones in my state changed franchises out a year or so back and went to o2. so now their are only maybe 3 or 4 left in my entire state and one was shut down because it was corporate owned when this shit first kicked off. i suppose it wont hurt the ones privately owned like ours is

Half of Golds have closed over the last 2 years in my area. Been really struggling mostly due to Planet Fitness being so cheap. Covid 19 is just putting the last few nails in the coffin.

I think I read that the franchise locations should be fine, but the corporate-owned ones are what will be affected. There's one not too far from me, so I'm waiting for the gyms to open back up to see what the status is of that location. I've been to it several times and it was a great gym. Would be a damn shame if it closed.

This. The first businesses to go are always the ones that were doing badly before.

If I had the money I would by the Golds gym in Venice. But they'd have to leave it exactly as it is. All the pics and stuff. I'd charge the same price as other cheap gyms. shut them down hopefully.

All the golds in my area slowly started closing a few years back we havnt had one for a while.

I’m honestly not surprised though. Most of the other gyms around here were bigger, had better hours and cheaper price.
