i feel really bad for all these high school and college seniors missing out on all their big moments this year. our kids got hammered in the fall last year by a massive hurricane and missed football wrestling and pretty much all fall events. so now those same kids are missing the end of their senior year. my neighbors youngest is graduating this year so her brother set up and decorated her room for her prom style and got her flowers. not the same but a hell of a gesture so she didnt completely miss out.

Re: School
The whole situation could have been avoided 1. if China was honest when this stuff first started. 2. We had not had such a knee jerk reaction.
These kids would not be missing out of milestones in life. That said they are minor in the bog picture and I am sure kids will look back and it will not bother them in a couple years. When you are young, right now is the most important time. They do not really look forward.

Re: School
Two weeks ago the Air Force Academy had their graduation ceremony near where I live and it was on TV. The cadets were sitting outside , 6 feet apart, no hugging or shaking hands. It went great. At the same time, all the local high schools are banned from having anything but a virtual graduation ceremony. I posted that its bullshit to do that to those kids and they could do it exactly like the air force academy.
A lot of parents protested but the school districts told them tough shit, we arent doing graduation ceremonies. Ridiculous.

Re: School
I have a feeling there may be Summer School in the future for some of these kids.
I mean how is the year going to be salvaged? I know there’s distance learning but what about the kids that don’t do or can’t do distance learning? Wouldn’t that also put some kids in a hole if they have specific needs and can’t get them through distance learning?
Hard to say what will happen?!?

Re: School
Well today I find out that school is cancelled for the rest of the year , which tbh wasn't a surprise.
I stay doing the Distance Learning material with my son everyday, but It is not the same as if they were in school. I know that at least it is something, but I'm worried about what its going to be like when my son hits 5th grade, are they going to slam work on the kids, are they going to compensate for the time off they had, i assume they have some plans they will implement, but as a parent it still worries me.
When this year started , It was full of new promise, now it just seems we're holding on for dear life.
I have faith that my higher power has put this in place for a reason, so all we can really do is hang in.
