Probably a virus, taking an antibiotic with a virus actually can slow recovery. When taking antibiotics make sure it is a bacterial infection and not a common cold or flu that has gone to your chest.
Mucinex D works really well for me. I take it with an OTC cough suppressant. I hope you get better soon brother. Do not forget probiotics after your antibiotics.
