  • When your parents die

Nothing changes your life quite like losing a parent. Both of my parents are gone now. My dad in 2003 and my mom in 2012. Still rips me up sometimes. My mom especially. I talked to her every day on the phone and visited her almost daily. She really was my best friend. She died in a care facility when she was on blood thinners, which caused her to get a bloody nose and she choked to death on her own blood. It was the ONLY day I didnt visit her in over a month. I know if I had been in that room that day, my mom would not have died. Some people lost their job over my moms death and there was an investigation on why someone was negligent and let her die. We didnt sue them because my brother said "I am not going to sue them. Mom wanted to be with Jesus!"...Pisses me off to this day that he acted like that but dont get me started on that topic lol

Now I dont have any family at all really. But its okay. We had a great family that centered around hanging out with our parents. It brought everybody together. Now I see my 2 brothers about 2 times a year and my nephew and god daughter a few times. But ya, if you still have your parents, just embrace each day with them, because once theyre gone, theyre gone for good. Nothing is bringing them back.

i havent seen my brother or parents in probably 5 or more years. i rarely talk to my parents since they are raising my brother's children now. some people never grow up and some people's parents continue to allow them to be a burden on society

That's so f#ing heart breaking Dzone. I'm pretty choked up after reading that, I'm so sorry to hear that ! My dad wad murdered in a robbery when I was 16. I have sorta a step Dad who's dying from cancer, everyday I'm just waiting for that phone call from my Mom. Shes 75 and takes care of him. I've been coming home to an empty house for years now, I can't begin to imagine what it's going to be like when I lose my Mom. Blessed Be Brother D.

Thats a lot to be dealing with too. My biological dad killed himself when I was 16. My step dad who raised me died way before I was ready for it. He was abusive when I was growing up but changed when I grew up but we weren't close. I always imagined showing him the land I was going to build on and him being proud of me. It hit me like a ton of bricks when he suddenly died of a pulmonary embolism about 8 years ago. Now my mom and I have always been very close and she has recently been diagnosed with Dementia of Lewy Bodies. It took forever to get that diagnosis. It has been an unreal horror. It will only get worse.

We spend a lifetime preparing to lose our parents but there is nothing that can prepare us.

Damn brother. That put a lump in my throat. My folks are 80. They are in pretty good health. But they have a little trouble getting around.
