  • Politics and the fam

With the holidays upon us we will be spending more time with the family. Some of you know my sis and her fam are ultra left wing feminist, liberal nut jobs. I do not care about another's political affiliations as long as they keep it to themselves.

My mom called me and asked me to try to keep it civil, she really wants a good Thanksgiving without any arguments.

I did what any son would do, I said "Did you tell her? She starts it!" (And she does)

What do you guys do to keep the peace? I want nothing more than to just enjoy some good food and some football. But my sis is an opinionated proselytizer. She will see a hot dog commercial and say "I will not buy from them, there is not enough diversity in that commercial they need people of color and why can't the woman cook the hot dogs why is it always the man....hmmmmm?l!"

And I say "no shit you won't buy them are a vegetarian and dammit dad's love grilling ....DUHHHHhhhhHHH!"

    How can I stop myself?
"SHIAT BIOTCH, thats a big ass!"

an old dude from the gym told me a famous expression one day "you cant fix stupid" so dont waste the time and effort. that and you know well and good you cant argue with those people. if they believe the sky is green and the grass is blue, no matter what kind of evidence that you bring they will still fight you no matter what. they are the main reason that people still believe that people are seriously racist and bigots, even though they are the ones that make race and other things an issue. i say ignore it and kill with kindness or just straight up stay home

LOL...Oh man. I will never forget the fight we all got into in 2003 I think it was. It was thanksgiving and the invasion of Iraq had just begun. My brothers wife was a computer engineer for Lockheed Martin, part of the military industrial complex, making bombs and missiles and jets. Her job depends on WAR. I made the comment "This invasion of Iraq by Bush is the stupidest thing Ive ever seen in my life!"...Needless to say, the screaming was the loudest we had ever seen in our family. My bro and his wife were screaming their heads off at me and I was screaming right back at them. I almost took my brother outside to kick his ass. hahahaha Oh well, I think history has proven me right.

Thanks guys. I always get anxiety before holidays. Simply due to this. there is a double standard held by the left. If you do not agree 100% then they become adversarial. For some reason my mom only gets onto me. (Might be female privilege as she only sees men as combative and not my sis starting this shit)

I am going to try my hardest to keep the peace.

We were watching all in the family last year. I love Archie Bunker! She came in and said "can't we find anything better to watch, this is misogynistic and racist"

I said, "Jeezuz Christ you were not even in here! You just walked in to preach to us and tell us about your views on this great show. WE are watching what we want (I gestured to me, my dad, my nephew and my son), shove off." She told my 13 year old nephew he could not watch it and made him come into the kitchen. My mom stuck her head in "Now jippy, you be nice and do not use the Lord's name in vain!"

She told my nephew loud enough for us to hear that that show was bad and would teach him how not to treat women and minorities, he whined and almost started crying as we were all laughing our asses off while watching and he was actually part of the guys group.

I hollered and called her a **** for making my nephew leave. My mom yelled "JIppy! you stop that right now!"

I could have yelled trump for a second term but did not as that would have causes a nuclear meltdown with wailing and crying on my sisters part and my brother in law would shrink back in his seat quietly and he would not want any form of confrontation. My nephew would have cried along with my sis and my mom would get mad for "starting" shit.

            jipped,

I think you already know that there is no getting through to someone who is ranting...about anything! It can be very trying sometimes. I refer to this often when I am ready to burst... this is 1 of many quotes that keep me grounded.." Silence is the best reply to a fool". Enjoy the food and a lil smerk with a look in her eye will make her even more pissed, lol! No...dont do that...hehehe
