Fuzo and I watch some of these. We did watch a couple seasons of Sixty days In when it started but havent watched it in awhile. What are your thoughts on how the inmates are treated? Now I know this is TV so things are probably not all they look like to be. I feel there is some inhumane things shown on the way they live. The basic needs are attrocious. I don't claim to have the answers at all and fully agree that accountability is warranted for the crime committed.

I loved this series! My wife and I never missed it. As far as how they are treated, I look at it like this...they're in jail for a crime they committed. It's not gonna be a hotel or country club...it's gonna be a ruff time...its jail.
I mean...they shouldn't be a used or live in health Hazzard or anything, but I didn't see anything wrong with what was going on there.

No one wants to go to prison. It happens when you get caught and that's the way it is. Your freedom is gone. The last words you hear from cons and CO's is "i hope i never see you again" cz it's fuckin prison.

I agree but prison and jail are two different things.

I really like 60 days in. Its NOT over dramatized. I will say I been to jail a few time for dumb shlt and I have never seen the lack of supervision. The daily gang fights and guys getting jumped by 6 other guys so often is unheard of. The fights do happen but not in plain sight unless someone wants its stopped. It happens in a locked cell. Other than that its pretty much on the money.

As far as people returning to jail or prison. It's all the time and like earning a merit badge. The mind is so powerful it wont often let you realize how miserable you are....until visitation. It's the worst seeing your loved ones is much harder than not seeing them.

We have a society where thug mentality is rewarded look at that guy that was released from jail and got a modeling contract based on his mug shot. Or idiot Meek Mills.... just to name a couple. Paying your dues is not just something to be done in jail. There needs to be societal consequences instead of party's for going into and again coming out of jail.

The only show I have seen was Worlds Toughest Prisons on Netflix. I didnt realize this was a reality show. I cant get into those no matter what they are about. I think your talking about rehabilitation vs punishment. Either way I dont have a friggin clue how to fix that mess. And it's world over, not just an American thing. I learned that from the Worlds Toughest Prisons series lol.

                    Re: Prison reality shows

I have been to city and county jail but never prison. (when I was a kid) It is not a nice place but really these guys have it better than much of the military folk that VOLUNTEER to serve. I say make it harder on them as a deterrent, I also think drug offenders should not be put in jail but put in substance abuse programs instead. I also think inmates make jail worse than the guards do. Guards will treat you with respect and even let you slide if you cause no trouble and follow the rules.

Hey, if you are a criminal jail/prison is an occupational hazard.

I wonder if private ownership of prisons by corporations are a good thing or bad thing....?
