Have any of you seen anyone doing this in the gym? All of a sudden, it's like everybody in every gym I go to is doing this. Is there actually some crazy benefit to doing presses on the Hammer Strength this way? Maybe I'm just too old school, but where in the world are all these weird variations of basic exercises coming from. I mean, if there is some awesome benefit to doing it this way that I just don't see well then count me in but...

    Re: Crossover Hammer Strength

i have seen it done a number of times myself as well man. my thinking is this (and this angle is supposedly used to hit the middle of the inner chest), your shoulders arent made to move in that range of motion. so if it is or looks like it will stress something in an incorrect movement pattern then it's probably not good. their are about 4-5 different movements that will target the same areas as this movement so why try to make a new wheel. i think of this one about the same as the stupid ass women standing up on the adductor abductor machines or facing the seat on their knees while only doing it with their calves. hey ladies if you want to squat then squat with proper form and it does the exact same thing more effectively. plus it doesnt break the damn machines

So true. Seems like that's all you see now days, just reinventing the wheel. Every once in a while I'll come across something completely different and think, "That might actually work pretty well." But, most of the time I'm just looking at this stuff like really? Every time I see someone doing this I'm so tempted to walk up and tell them I can show you a few different exercises that'll hit that area hard and won't tear your shoulders all to hell. But I don't lol.
