  • Lack of motivation

Sometimes the excitement and allure of the gym eludes me. I wind up going on auto pilot. Through the motions without the enthusiasm. This is pure hell on earth for me. It never last long but man why does it happen? Where does it come from??
    Anybody else experience this?

      Re: Lack of motivation

Happens to me from time to time too bro. The passion is always there, but the drive to train becomes elusive. For me, sometimes just a simple switch to a different gym is all I need to get fired up again. Different atmosphere, different people, different equipment. I notice myself getting that way when I'm super stressed, or exhausted too. Sometimes my job hammers me into the ground and in those times it's hard to find the hunger to train hard. I like to say I don't bring any negative feelings from outside into the gym with me, but occasionally that outside stress eeks its way into my workout. I think it's something everybody feels here and there. Try changing something up. Goals, training, diet, gym, etc... Sometimes a small change is enough to reignite that fire. If that doesn't work, take a look at your body and pay attention to anything that could be influencing how you feel. Stress, rest, diet, supplements. Any number of these can have a huge impact on your drive in the gym. Hope you're able to get that hunger back soon brotha.

i am going to be both a dick and a realist at the same time.

first: lack of motivation can come from a few things: 1- staying or pushing cals to low for to long. 2- over training training to hard to long or to frequently. 3- not enough rest or sleep or any combination of the three.

now where the dick part comes in and i am a huge advocate of not doing this. i f you have to take a big ass hand full of garbage to get motivated or a huge ass drug cycle just to justify going to the gym. then 9 out of 10 times you wont be successful because you are using chems or supps to give you drive or motivation. you have to have internal goals set inside yourself for yourself and for no other reason than that. you cant take or force internal drive, i dont care what anyone tells you. it just insnt possible. same thing goes for those stupid ass people that have to post every single aspect of everything they are doing on social media. you are doing it for gratification from other people and not yourself. daily pics videos or post about how bad your meals suck or how great your workouts are blah blah blah. you are already set up for failure and more often than not, what you are posting up isnt what you are doing when no one is looking.

PRETTY SIMPLE SET A SHORT AND LONG TERM GOAL FOR YOURSELF. hold your own self accountable. if you need to make tweaks here and there do them small and give them time to work.

I think its normal to feel like that at times. We cant beat ourselves up over it. Even the greats have days when they dont feel like doing shit

I used to feel that way when I first started lifting. Once I got into a habit of it, I didnt ever have that problem again

Of course if anyone reads my posts I agree with Guns 91.2 percent of the time. Something very important is to know days in advance what your work-out will be. I can tell you my work-out any day 3 months from today. I see my whole work-out in my mind when I wake up in the morning, Why does Rake believe that is important: Because you walk in the gym and know that it is your job is to go from point A to Point B.
