  • Never feel like taking a rest day

Am I the only one that never feels like taking a day off from the gym? I just go crazy and spend the entire day trying to convince myself it's what I NEED to do. Sometimes I am mentally weak and I go anyway

I want to lift every single night for hours and hours.

It is my body that demands the rest days so it does not break down on me.

Ya man, dont beat yourself up for going. I like to go every day just as a ritual , and to see how many days straight I can get but do heavy heavy and light days. On light days I might do cardio and one set of 20 rep squats or a set of pullups . I cant sztand a day whenb I am not doing something. I have to walk thru that gym door at least once a day or I fel like shit

damn i must be doing something wrong because i feel like when my rest day comes it is time for that rest day. i dont really consider doing cardio as a training day but a full day or 2 of rest is def needed for most esp as we get a little bit of age on us. even the top athletes in all sports have rest days. i say if you absolutely have to train go in and do some active recovery stuff so you can still make progress

Re: Never feel like taking a rest day

It is very hard to take a rest day for me as well. I feel so guilty for not going to the gym that I can't sleep at night. Its like an addiction for me. I have to have it or I go crazy. If I just go there to stretch or foam roll I feel like I got something in for the day.
I feel the same as all of you do. Thanks FG.

If you feel you need the rest day than take it. I think rest days are very important to training. Dont dwell on it on those days, learn to enjoy it

i feel a rest day is necessary if you are training ball out 100% but if you have some light days just to get a bit of a sweat I think on AAS one can be fine. also age has a lot to do with it too.

Re: Never feel like taking a rest day

For me it's always a battle between my mind and body. My body gets to where I just feel beat up and is ready for my rest day. But, my mind is hard to convince. My compromise is meal prep lol. I'll take a rest day and just cook. My body is getting rest and my mind still feels like it's doing something toward my physique goals.

Just curious how old you are krunch. When I was younger sure I felt that way. But now that I fart dust those rest days are quite welcome and deserved in my opinion. As long as you have been making progress.

krunch and i are same age..he's been like this since we both started in middle school lifting...remember you can have a life in the gym or out of the gym....some take breaks every few days, my wife and i train hard a few weeks/months then take off to live life a few weeks...you gotta have a life and more importantly BALANCE...maybe cardio on non-lifting days only will help out...

I miss the cycle that I did one single 20 rep set of squats with 225. Every single day for 3 months. 7 days a week. Nuts? It worked big time. I was ripped to the bone on that.

Re: Never feel like taking a rest day

The only rest days I get is when the gym closes early on the weekends !!! If it was open when I get out of work , then I would be there !!!
Even when I don't feel like hitting up the gym , tired or something , I still go because when I get there my whole mood changes !!!

I am 42....progress is few and far between at this point. I'm pretty much at my limit for strength for this size

                          As far as my physique....
Either I'm chubby and strong or I'm cut and a little weaker

If I train near 100% I get injured pretty quickly....like a matter of a few weeks
