  • Back and Legs...what a weird combo!

So today my coach had us doing back, hams, and calves. Probably the weirdest muscle group combination ever, for me at least! It was a new challenge because back was first so arms were obviously used, so when it came down to dumbbell RDLs, which was the second to last workout of the day, my arms were dead! Holding the dumbbells was so hard! Maybe I just need to work on my grip strength! But today's workout definitely kicked my butt! Leg day is my favorite because my lower body is so much stronger than my upper body which makes me feel awesome when I can lift so heavy compared to my upper body. But having back and legs together was a change but I think it really made the workout that much more intense which was awesome! Is this a weird combo or is it just me??

I've seen quite a few bodybuilders who say they do back and hams together. I'm personally not a fan. If I did my leg and back workouts together I would spontaneously combust after writhing in pain from cramps and nausea lol

i used to do some light ham work after back when i was trying to bring mine up a little. i couldnt imagine putting in a full run on both though, i dont think the gas tank has enough in it for that

I've done the same thing, throwing in some light hams on back day. Mostly just lighter stiff leg dead lifts. My hamstrings have always been a weak point. I've never given 100% to both on the same day. That had to be brutal.

I hammer posterior chain all the time. They go perfect together. I prefer heavy compounds to isolation work, maybe that explains it a bit more.

Sometimes I'll do shoulders if I still have something left in the tank after legs.
