It was inspiration to me as well. Taking anabolic advice to heart as well, but the difference is that I know I'm not a bodybuilder. I'm a gym rat, and love it. I like power lifting more but still don't like the one rep bs.
Now I leave the ego at the door and challenge myself not the group of douches next to me.
Isn't funny to see them critiquing what you do? But you still look better then they ever will...ha ha! Yes, ego is a ***** to tame, it's part of our caveman days. But I am getting better at realizing my own goals and the way I want myself to look. Even if it means starting all over to feel the muscles working, and getting that "mind-muscle" connection strong...
I've been finishing with squats as well. After I saw Anabolics post about leaving your ego at the door on Suprfast contest log, it was inspiration. I also have to remeber Kai Greene's statement, "I will never be a weight lifter". I start of with laying leg curls, leg extensions, standing leg curls, hip abduct and adduct, presses, then squats. By then 335 for reps is hard. But with leaving my ego at the door in mind, I am thinking about just repping 225 as the finisher with high reps. Maybe adding in a good 1 or 2 second pause at the bottom. I do ATG squats as well.
if everyone applied this to their approach to training they would see 10x better training results. with that said i like the anabolic principle as well. i am not trying to move x amount of weight and it makes no difference how much weight i use. it is what and how i feel when doing it. as a matter of fact i did squats 3d in my workout last week and only went up to 365 for 3 work sets of 15 12 and 12. that was all i needed to get it done and they were hammered but i kept going with my final exercises.
it's great to see so much knowledge and respect on one board. good stuff
High reps of heavy weight > high weight of one rep.
Planning on upping my reps and staying at 405.
depending on the makeup of the type of fiber in your legs, most people make better gains off of higher end reps with heavy weight. for most people it seems that the lower end of the rep ranges dont work really well but their are some that can thrive off of it
Ill do 2-3 reps as a heat check, but at the end of my working sets.
After squats I go right into high rep walking lunges with 110lb ez curl bar. Nothing, and I mean nothing kills my legs like lunges after squats. I've tried 5x5 and if I don't get winded I don't feel the pump.
There was a guy that I trained with a few years back that was a bodybuilding competitor that really reinforced the concept of leaving your ego at the door. He was 8-9 years younger then me and our strength was fairly close in squatting and leg pressing movements. We would warm up and then get into our work sets, no matter how much weight we would have on he would always have me take one plate off of each side for his sets. I finally asked him why and his response was this, "I don't have to lift what you lift, it's not my weight it's yours. I just have to look better then you on stage, that's the end result. You lift to see how big you can get, I lift to look great on stage. **** ego, it's about how the judges see you".
Leave your ego at the door, don't give a rats ass what the guy next to you is lifting. Do this for YOU!!!

Off my soap box and on to a poopy diaper!
i love it anabolic, and the sad fact is that when i started working with an older national level competitor that was my boss at work, i started to make some of my best gains ever. that was his exact principles as well and i blew up big time.

It's all about you in this sport. Ronnie Coleman didn't care what Dorian Yates lifted, he cared what he lifted. Not that we aren't impressed by strength, we should be. But you need to lift what is heavy to you to achieve the results you want. I don't care if you squat 60 pounds or 600, are you doing this for me or for you?
I train for me, to see what I can accomplish. Is the weight I use heavy, you bet your ass. It's heavy TO ME!!!
