  • Knee Wraps, When?

At what weight did you guys start thinking about wrapping your knees? We're then any issues that pushed you into them quicker, or just out of a safe conscious? If you think it's relevant, the amount of weight over your body weight. Thank you!

    Re: Knee Wraps, When?

I have never liked knee wraps. Always felt like I did not want the extra crutch. Plus I would always wrap one knee a little bit tighter then the other or the end woulda would not match right and it would distract me...

Then again I rarely squat over 405. Even 405 is pretty heavy. I'm an tall and naturally tilt forward. Anything over 315 and I usually back pump out...

Most leg days I go in a little stoned and work the pump. So my leg days are intense but I'm not bending bars sqauting

I use knee wraps for most of my squat sessions but have found that leg press is where they are most beneficial. I use them to keep my knees warm more so then for safety. Hacks destroy my knees without wraps, but leg press does the same. It is really an individual thing, some can train for years without them with no issues, some find that they need them right away and even at lighter weights. The wrap isn't lifting the weight, you are.

i try and do alot of weight on the leg press, and 135 on squats i have to wrap at all times. but i go deep with my 135 squat and push out of the whole and then i jump wright to the leg press. my pb squat was i think 565lbs but i cant remember i dont go near that ever again, all for showing off my leg is messed up for life. pretty girls and tren ace lol.

I use to squat really heavy Bro, hate talking numbers though. I've moved some heavy slag iron but at 52 it's about being healthy now.

                          Re: Knee Wraps, When?

i am not near any of your guys age but in my low 30s and i use them when i go over 405 on my squats or any other movement also. the only time my knees get sore is when i break that 400lb mark. i go ass to the floor also and i can hit 500 rock bottom for 8-12 or more depending on how i feel. more recently i have been pre exhausting and doing squats last in 3 leg sessions a month and keeping my squat around 315-385 range. i am seeing some damn good results that way. never been into the pushing max amounts of weights for any less than 6-8 personally, i am more of a higher end rep guy with more volume esp on legs and back

                            Re: Knee Wraps, When?

I've been finishing with squats as well. After I saw Anabolics post about leaving your ego at the door on Suprfast contest log, it was inspiration. I also have to remeber Kai Greene's statement, "I will never be a weight lifter". I start of with laying leg curls, leg extensions, standing leg curls, hip abduct and adduct, presses, then squats. By then 335 for reps is hard. But with leaving my ego at the door in mind, I am thinking about just repping 225 as the finisher with high reps. Maybe adding in a good 1 or 2 second pause at the bottom. I do ATG squats as well.

                            Thaks everyone for the replies!

                            EDIT: Kai's video I mentioned above: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1Mj8o2WMGoE
