I do not compete any more but I do like to stay in shape. My body holds firmly at 15% to 18% MF no matter what I do I can eat clean or dirty or extremly dirty and it stays the same.
Fo instance I like Cookies N Cream ice cream I don't buy if maybe a gallon about 3 times a year. Why? I eat the whole thing in a week.
When I do my BF does not change.
Does anyone have a clue why?
Takes time to put on BF. 15-18% is also a pretty big gap. I am the same way. I am skinny and do mostly cardio so I stay between 11-15%. Eating an extra 9,000 calories in a week if all else stays the same might cause you to pick up a LB of fat but our bodies resist change. They want to remain in optimum homeostasis. So after you eat your gallon of IC you body says back to normal and that LB slowly melts away.
Takes chronic overeating to gain weight. If you ate a gallon a week for 2 months I bet you would see a significant diff.

i try not to let mine get above 10-12. abs always showing at least top 4, my obliques dont fade and glutes stay feathered with a little blur. my lower back is where i hold the most. hell even at 303 a couple years back all 6 abs were still showing and glutes were feathered but i dont get that heavy anymore
biggest thing with getting bf down is to lower cals into def without getting so low to start eating up muscle. it's a hard game to play and you have to know when to refeed and pull back when metabolism starts to stall or it will end up being a losing battle. cardio and diet with suffering if you arent a naturally lean person is a must haha and it sucks balls
My lower back is my biggest problem area too. I've leaned out quite a bit over the past couple years. I made some drastic changes to my diet initially and now it seems like I can throw in a few crappy meals here and there without any huge impact, which I like lol.
