  • Routine So Boring

I switched mine to 4 x 10,8,6,4 increasing the weight each set. Feels good, feels fresh, and my body needs it.

    Anyone made any changes recently?

my programing usually changes around every 12 weeks or so and it's also different in some aspect workout to workout so it never really gets to boring. cardio on the other hand sucks ass

LOL I've been riding my mountain bike around for my cardio. Still sucks, but at least it gets me out and about. I'm assuming it looks pretty funny seeing a big muscular dude riding around on a mountain bike. The stares I get are freakin' hilarious.

+1 on hate cardio! I do my conditioning with a trainer and it's really anaerobic - "barbell conditioning". I wish I could get myself to jog or bike or something. Only other source of cardio for me is ice hockey but I haven't been able to play hockey for months because of my schedule.

As for a routine, my work schedule has changed a lot lately, so I haven't had a "routine" per se. Been fitting in a quick, 30 or so minute workout in the morning before work. Supersets and high intensity. Definitely not boring!

I switch one month fairly heavy then one month light and high reps. Cardio guns I just watch family guy on my phone. I forget i am doing cardio. Sometimes I listen to the CME podcast (mma) Music does not do it for me. Leaves too much time for my mind to think about the suck of cardio.

tv gets me thru it too. I say to myself one hour of cardio is 1 - hour long tv show or 2 - 1/2 hour shows. It helps me put it in perspective to get going and time flies with tv. Music is for lifting for me.

The past couple of years I've focused on the big, compound moves - largely because of my schedule and the need to get the most out of a short amount of available time in the gym. But deadlifts and squats have really made a big difference! My legs have grown a LOT in the last couple of years! Don't know if they're at "live oak" proportions or not (I'm 5-9 and right around 200) BUT: the stronger my legs get, the faster I skate depite my weight (and age). I'm 48 and am often the fastest guy on the ice - or at least in the top 5 - including guys in their 20's.

I love it when I get, "How old are you?" Then, "Holy shit!" 🤣🤣🤣

My pop was a hockey player til his 40s and his back said no more. He played since he was 7 or something. He had giant legs. I remember when he would play the young guys he would be in such a great mood lol.
