Did anyone see this guy that competed at the 2021 NPC nationals?
I've heard so many different theories about him being up there and I'm not trying to bash the guy (assuming his goal wasn't to mock the sport of bodybuilding), but my question is how in the world did he qualify for nationals?

i saw it as well and was like wtf was he thinking? so here is how it works: you only have to place top 3 to qual for nationals and in the super heavy class you normally only have 1-3 guys and usually only 1 that is actually in any form of good shape. hell a lot of the time you dont have any at all that are supers and it is hit or miss if any of them are comptetive for the overall. so basically more often than not super heavies suck ass at the local level in most places. their really isnt that many really big guys that get in shape.
here is another kicker and i actually coach people so i can comment here. the physique dudes are the worse for this. they tout i am nationally qual blah blah blah. well again you only have to place top five in a qual show to be eligible for nationals as a physique guy. so stop touting it like it is a huge deal. also what i rell my people is for starters until you win a class and overall at a mid to bigger show then you are wasting time and money by jumping into a pro qual show when the best you have done is 5th or 3d. you arent competitve. just take a scroll through instagram or fb and you will see tons of people with nationally qual in their descritiption line. do a little digging and most have never won a class much less an overall.
i will also say a couple dick heads in my area turned pro as masters physique guys without ever winning locally or at state. both of those shit birds got their pro cards with last place finishes at one of the national shows because their were only 2-3 people in their class and even though they got last they still got their cards. so it can be done. me personally i think its a joke
Man I totally agree. I've heard from so many people that nationals and even getting a pro card now days is just getting ridiculous. I've never competed and from a non-competitor's perspective it just seems odd. I've watched guys battling it out for years trying to qualify for nationals, earn their pro card and then there are others where it seems like they hit a few shows and wrap it up. Seems like now there's so much technicality involved making the process easier for some rather than paying your dues and paving a path. I guess there's always been technicalities though, maybe social media just brings it to light more so now. Now days you got guys switching classes just to win, then switching back and so forth. Just so much different than it was back in the day.
Well, I guess it looks like he might lift weights. lol...damn. He doesnt look embarrased at all. Maybe he lost 300 poundss.
Reminds of how the sport of powerlifting will create a whole new federation and will list every single lift as A "WORLD RECORD".
Saw some total novice dude return from one of those meets and he was telling everyone around that he had THE WORLD RECORD IN THE BENCH PRESS. He benched like 250.
Seems like anyomore, there are a lot more people calling themselves a PRO bodybuilder.
