Experienced back pain, MRI revealed disc herniation at L4,L5. I do have some numbing in quad and shin also pain in glute. Question; do I continue to train, do I follow through with cycle? Can I expect recovery if so at what level ie; squat, bent over rows. If anyone has experience please advise.

Re: Continue cycle while injured?
Have you asked your doctor if it's ok to keep training? I would avoid squats , deadlifts , bent over rows , and any exercise that involves the back to a great extent . Are you going to a chiropractor ? I see one always almost every week for back , neck problems and it helps me .

Re: Continue cycle while injured?
I had the results sent to my chiropractor and my general doc, general doc has not contacted me yet, chiropractor read report and let me know what was going on. Disappointed in my doc, but chiropractor is a friend of mine. Doc seemed to want to medicate and pt, chiropractor said there is a good chance he can fix.

Re: Continue cycle while injured?
Bro how far into cycle are you? Id advise to stop if your in the beginning. IMO you will just be wasting gear. Ive suffered with back pain and it can affect every aspect of your workout. My advice woukd be to heal up, or depending on your goals go lite and rep more. It sucks I know. You dont wsnt to risk more injury and ruin your back forever. Wait and see what doc says bro. But its a tough spot. We have all been there with all types of injuries.

Re: Continue cycle while injured?
That truely sucks to be into a cycle and become injured. By no means am I knowledgable like alot of you guys. But thinking about it I would maybe do a bridge cycle until you can get back into it hard.
As others advise cut out deadlifts, squats, non supported rows, and anything else that aggrevates the injury.
Chiros do help but I do believe in physical therapy in terms of getting a list of exercises and doing them on your own. Going 3 days a week and paying them to watch you do it is where I'm not a fan of PT. So maybe PT once a week and chiro once a week. Invest in a TENS unit, ice, and heating pad and do alot of your "therapy" at home. Also an inversion table as some mentioned in a post of mine (I have SI joint inflammation and thinning on the lowest disc). The list of exercises I was given has helped me alot in my recovery and I'm going once a week to chiropractor. I do the PT exercises everyday. I try and work them into whatever I'm working that day. So instead of resting between sets I do PT exercises, so I kill two birds with one stone.
Good luck man.

Re: Continue cycle while injured?
I would say if you want to keep on working out do it but just change what and how you do it. after my first shoulder surgery I changed my workout but then went back to my old workout then messed up my other shoulder got a shot in it and it doesn't hurt anymore but changed my workout and haven't had a problem..
like others have said no dead lifts or squats if you want to do squats maybe use a squat machine to me they put less strain on your back..

Re: Continue cycle while injured?
Back Leg Injuries involving the sciatica can take quite a time to heal. Last time for me was a little over a year before I had normal range of motion and no pain. Best piece of advice I can give is rest up, stretch, and check out Airrosti Rehab centers they were a real help in recovering from my last injury.

I had the same injury back in 06.went though pain management for awhile.got epildural shots of cortisone and painkillers.I dont care to juice all i wanted to do is take Vicodin & percocet.messed me up for a couple years. Finally got my act together and got back in the Gym.I would say, keep doing other body parts,if the pains not too bad and continue your cycle.stay away from Opiate painkillers if you can bro.I
