Many years ago I tried pinning the thigh...HATED IT..leg swelled up, couldn't walk for days and never tried it again. I'm thinking of going back there as I need a new location. Question is, where is the best spot, what gauge works best and how much will the area take?
i use one inch 23 gauge. as far as the best spot is a couple inches above mid thigh. i stand up straight and let my arms fall by my side and my birdie finger falls out mid thigh. i hold that spot and grab my needle sit down and move my finger 2 to 3 inches above where my finger is and inject. i use to do right where my finger fell out and it would be hard to workout my legs because i couldn't bend my leg but, as soon as i moved the shot up a little i was good to go.
stay up high man and more towards the outside. the more toward the middle you get the better chance you have of missing the muscle. i like a 25g 1/2 or 1in for my mini guinea pigs
5150 told me a long time ago, pretend your putting your hand in your jeans pocket. Spread your fingers out, and then press each one down feeling for the one with less sensation. That will be your spot. for me, i rest my thumb joint right on my pelvis bone before I spread my fingers out. my middle finger always hits the spot with less sensation. i just move up and downin that area. Money everytime. Hope that helps...
I pin mine all the time. Upper outter thigh and use a 23g or 25g 1". My thighs are pretty vascular too so I have to be careful where I'm putting it. It's 1 of my favorite spots though, I can use both hands and aspirating is easy.
yes its my favorite spot to real easy to get to. it took me awhile of hurting myself until i found my sweet spot. as soon as i found it was easy going after that
quads are so easy. Most people pin the vastis lateralis which is the out head of the quad runs from the knee to the hip. The top portion seems to be the least tender. You can laso pin the rectus femoris which is dead in the middle of the leg and from top to bottom and left to right.
