  • Packing on solid mass over the years.....

O.K. This is a question for you fellas that I've been wondering about. Since we are always talking about having to "Cut" because of our stupidity in pre-bodybuilding years or after a bulking diet/cycle, I got to thinking of something. If someone were at 15% bf and wanted to lean out, could you just add several pounds of quality muscle over a 2 year period (AAS or not)? Here's my point. If you have, say, 15 pounds of bodyfat and wanted to look leaner, wouldn't it be better to add quality mass for a couple years and then let that newly added muscle mass help you burn those 15 pounds while leveling you calories out for no additional weight gain (during a standard 12 wk diet)?

Maybe it's just me, but the health and physique benefits of muscle mass seem to outweigh these 'sharp' fluctuations in weight by quite a bit....Shiner

no its not just you, very good point. and i;m sure skar is gonna chime in and start preaching. ur bf% will decrease as long as you gain more muscle than fat. in other words u can still gain some fat and still be dropping ur bf%

LOL- Shiner you just said Cut and Bulk in the same sentence

yeah that is a good point- its all about keeping an eye on your body's your calorie intake. I used to keep track of all my cals per meal and add them up throughout the day, its a great way to get a feel for where I am hitting but for a while I ahve been trying to do it just by feel. If you add muscle it will burn extra cals, the thing is backing off the extra cals when you feel your adding fat, but not dropping them significantly enough to freak the body out/go into starvation preventation mode. I'm sure you know all this though- just saying I agree and rambling

I always get leaner (lower BF%) while bulking. I usually start out about 12% and end up in the 9% range while adding about 10 lbs or so in body weight. The last 2 cycles it worked out that way.

U SAID BULKING/CUTTING! U ARE OFFICIALLY THE "BB.COM GUYS" OF FG!

IMO, you can add muscle and drop BF. As long as you are getting enough cals to fuel muscle growth it should work. Do your cardio

Again, ur post was a little confusing but did you basically say do a bulk (hope to lose a few lbs w/ the newly added muscle) and then do a 3 month diet where you wouldnt gain shit(CUT)? I think i need to bump DCs thread once again I don't understand why the idea of staying at a consistant body fat % 7-14 and continually gaining muscle is such a hard concept for people to do/understand? Is it that hard to diet? come on talk to me, i dont understand where u're coming from at all.

It IS true. Like I posted above... I started my last cycle at 215#, 12%BF. I ended at 222#, 9.5%BF. Unfortunately, I don't think it is possible for everyone.

more muscle=higher bmr=less bf assuming your diet is in order.
