              IMO, you can add muscle and drop BF. As long as you are getting enough cals to fuel muscle growth it should work. Do your cardio

              Again, ur post was a little confusing but did you basically say do a bulk (hope to lose a few lbs w/ the newly added muscle) and then do a 3 month diet where you wouldnt gain shit(CUT)? I think i need to bump DCs thread once again I don't understand why the idea of staying at a consistant body fat % 7-14 and continually gaining muscle is such a hard concept for people to do/understand? Is it that hard to diet? come on talk to me, i dont understand where u're coming from at all.

              Reason for asking: "A lot of people swear that you need to diet down under 10% or so before adding muscle and others are the other way around.....What is you opinion?"

                I personally feel that the 10% suggestion means that they know how to diet and control weight. i wouldnt recomend going on if u were above 15%. it is very possible to maintain bf% and gain quality muscle, it just takes knowledge, experience, self control, and hard work. those things should be a given to a BBer.

                  That's what I thought. My general rule of thumb is when I'm under 12% I'll start adding @ that point, but that's just 'me'. For instance, right now, I'm 205 @ 13.7% and I won't start adding again until I get below 11 or 12%. I just wanted to know if anyone had any actual evidence that having lower bodyfat would allow the body to add more muscle. Didn't think so, but there are SO MANY people that swear up and down it's the truth. Wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

                  I guess I didn't word my question the right way. Work's been very busy this week.

                    Just focus on adding muscle, and not eating junk (excess fats and bad carbs) and things should lean up while mass increases.

                    This means finding where the line between adding muscle and adding fat lies for you individually in regards to excess calories. If you start adding more fat, add some low intensity cardio, and PM carb cutoffs rather than any drastic cut in cals.

                      Ok, I see what u're saying much better now.. I'm about 9% and i'm all about adding msucle. I think you can drop fat and add muscle at the same time w/ diet, proper amount of cardio and exercise. I plan on adding muscle at 6 or 7.

                        I eat clean and add muscle while dropping fat! I do not add as much, but what I add stays and is hard good muscle.
