  • Do you squat?

...and if you do what kind of weights you putting up with good form...?

After years of lifting, sports, fighting, etc etc my knees have been shot up until recently...hitting deep clean reps of 315 for then, 405 for 8, and today 455 for a couple, then I go wide deep and slow at 315 and 225...still shy of my best in my early 20's at 605 but I will take it!!!

Thank you knee wraps and ghrp-6! lol!

    Re: Do you squat?

Have been squatting since I was 12 years old. Wouldnt dream of anything else as a cornerstone of any program. Incredible exercise. I just plain love to squat.

I've always done squats. Every leg day me, my belt and my knee wraps show up for battle.

        Re: Do you squat?

I go back and forth with squatting, usually I only do in the winter. Seems like in the summer I'm always working on a job that involves me climbing alot of ladders. That really makes me not want to do legs at all

Injuries, bad knees, and bad back aren't a good reason, but they are my excuse. I just started using the G6 and hope it helps lubricate the joints. I use sleeves, not wraps. After years of being strictly an arm *****, I've finally decided to start bringing legs up to speed. Currently dealing with a sports hernia, but putting up 275x5, but only 255 with good form. 215 with perfect form. 135 slow, deep reps with a hold at bottom. Making big gains lately, but trying to stay patient until my groin heals.

I use to train for a power lifting competition and squats and benching were my best and highest to do. I miss doing them.

                Re: Do you squat?

After 4 legiment repairs to my knees, I only perform hack squats at Gold's. Although my knee surgeon had advised me NOT to squat or leg press again, I've already broken my squat record on the hack squat.

However, due to shoulder/rotator cuff injuries, I'm unable to even attempt the squat in my powerlifting training. The 1st time I tried, I was not able to grip the bar so close to my head. I was always used to performing the squat (bodybuilding style) with my arms stretched out.

                    Re: Do you squat?

I currently do deep paused squats. I got down as deep as I can (butt almost touching the floor), pause for 2 seconds, and then back up. I do them once a week. But I am only up to 185 at the moment. Going really deep and pausing is humbling as far as weight goes.

405 for 10, ass to heels, was prob my best. I remember one morning in a gym in Orange county California I got 225 for 40 reps, ass to heels...Never did that many reps again. Must have been the California atmosphere that inspired me...lol...now days I almost never go over 3 plates, usually I keep it at two plates and try to push my reps.

Damn! 225 for 40 is something to be proud of. That's impressive bro.

                          Re: Do you squat?

I have a bad knee so I don't push my luck. I do squats but stick with light weights to avoid stress. I rarely go over 275. Normally, I stick with 225. That's okay, I've got nothing to prove.
