Zantac for Heartburn.... Sides?

Anyone else use Zantac for heartburn? I get really bad heartburn sometimes that doesn't go away. Most of it probably stress, but I also get it if I take cialis. I've always just chewed up a Tums and went about my day (or back to sleep) but if I have heartburn for a couple days I just get sick of eating Tums all the time. I had a friend suggest Zantac because it's not a 14 day program like Prilosec, but something you can take as needed. (1 every 12 hours at most) I grabbed some it it works like a charm. Absolutely no heartburn.

However, I looked up some of the side effects and it mentions decreased sex drive, impotence and swollen breasts in men?? I guess I'm not seeing how in the world a heartburn medicine comes with those particular sides. Do all heartburn medications come with these side effects? If so, I guess I'm screwed because I'd rather have heartburn than deal with that lol.

zantac prilo and nexum all have class action law suits against them now for messing people up. i would assume that as long as you arent taking any of them daily for long periods of time you would be good to go. i had a script for mexum for years and had no clue that it did some nasty stuff to you. good thing they got my heart burn figured out

Those meds are really meant to be short term and the problem is many end up taking them for a long duration. they end up doing the complete reverse to what they were meant to do. Try the 2 week period and then stop and see.

Damn I had no idea. Thanks for the info, definitely going to use it sparingly if at all now. Probably just stick with my Tums here and there when the heartburn hits lol.

generic proton pump inhibitors can be acquired thru script and covered by most insurances. last i checked rolls of berry flavored calcium carbonate is placed right next to hubba bubba bubble gum. if its real bad i would see a good doc first if possible.

i think short term it is fine. i would not take it more than a month or two. some folk live on it. not good.
