Re: Enzymes
I used the years ago and they were helpful. If one takes any type of meds they can possibly metabolize them quicker which isnt always a good thing. I stopped taking then due to reactions so I just chew each bite twenty times now to create my own, lolVeritas Vos Liberabit

Re: Enzymes
I thought I responded to this thread. kimchi and sauerkraut and such have probiotics, not digestive enzymes. they are really good for you and do help break down food but in a totally different way and not as thoroughly as digestive enzymes
(love kimchi BTW)
anyway the body produces it's own enzymes that work with the gut flora and stomach acid to break down foods to their base nutrients to make them bioavailable. one can eat 50 grams of protein from say beef but only some of that will be absorbed.
anecdotally I can tell you if you take a good enzyme supp you will get a lot more nutrients and aminos out of your food. try it. i bet your bathroom habits change...........gross but true. you will not need to go #2 as often because your body is taking up more and there is less waste.
My son is an eating and pooping machine. he takes enzymes to help him gain weight. he told me he loves them as he is not taking dumps all day. he feels better too he says. he is an extreme case as most people have pretty good digestive systems. I think the amount of food he eats pushes everything through faster than it can be properly digested. he is 6'3" and 135# and eats 3500-4000 calories ED and has abs any BB would be jealous of. (he works at a pizza joint for free pizza and eats a large before bed every night)
