  • Rotisserie Chicken... Good or Bad?

I see them all the time at the grocery store and grab one occasionally for a quick chicken meal. I always take the skin off mine and eat primarily the chicken breast. I've read they're a good quick fix for chicken as long as you remove the skin, but I've also seen that they're bad with insane amounts of sodium and cholesterol.

Just wondering what everyone's opinion of them are? I'm sure the health aspect probably various from place to place depending on how they're prepared. I usually see them at Kroger, or Costco.

i say they are good to go. one it's not processed meat which is always a plus. two, anything will beat high processed stuff and or fast food. i have even seen them put into diet plans for people on a really tight budget. so it can be used to work for damn near anyone.

I buy them and I love them. They usually have ones cooked with seasoning and not, so I get the not. I use them for salads, quick, soup etc. Like duns said, it's a real chicken and Iilkie buying things that I can see what I am getting.

I eat the skin and dark meat. save the breast for chicken recipes or chop it up and make wraps with pico and avacado. but why not eat the skin, that is where the flavor is. yeah there is some fat but not a ton and fat is not bad for you like high glycemic carbs

We used to buy them every day after the gym and they are great if you don't have the time to cook. I eat the skin when I am not cutting. All of it tastes great and can fit into any diet plan if you weigh it out. Don't worry about sodium; unless you have to and I suspect you don't. 20 years ago 'they' said eggs were bad for us, how did that work out??

Looks like I will be including more rotisserie chickens in my meal plans lol. They are so convenient and good, it's hard to pass them up.

Yep! That's my goal. I can probably get one a week and make a few meals out of it. Good and inexpensive, just how I like it lol.

I love some rotisserie chicken! The past few weeks when i go shopping for meal prep for the week I will usually grab one and eat part of it that night and munch on it the next day while i am cooking everything for the week! Cheap good hot bird for the take home! Publix has some good ones if anyone shops there.

Just make sure it comes from a clean place. The heating systems they use breed cockroaches. If the place is clean, these are usually made with very little salt and keep much of the flavor.
