  • started growing my own sprouts

They are super healthy. I do not get enough greens in me. I can put these on a sandwich or blend in a shake.

I have broccoli (best source of sulforaphane: http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supple...e=sulforaphane)

    alfalfa

    red clover

    radish

    wheat grass

should cover most of my micronutrient and vitamin requirements

read up on it. Cheap to start your own and kinda fun to watch grow

broccoli and alfalfa ready for harvest! (broccali sprouts have a bit of a sulfur smell and taste)

https://www.amazon.com/Four-Tray-Kit...ords=sprouting Super cheap and seeds are under $10 for a pound which will make 16 crops give or take a pound

soak the seeds 8-9 hours in distilled water first as they only soak up water with no municipal chems like chlorine and floride ect. (I read distilled to soak then tap to rinse as the tiny bit of chlorine HELPS prevent mold and bacterial growth)

after soaking rinse, distribute 1-2 tablespoons of seeds per tray and water the top one. it drips down on the others and collects in the bottom. 3X a day I do this while rotating the trays bottom to top each time a water and dump the old water which will be yellowish. sprouting happens quick and you will have edible sprouts within 5 days. if you wanted to plant for your garden you could.

after they are mature enough, i turn on the water and break apart the sprouts. the seed hulls float up and the flowing water will flush them out of the container. some will remain and can be a bit bitter. I am fine with that. I bag them and eat within 3 days. Or you can freeze them and use them for shakes. if you freeze you can pull bag out of freezer and crunch them up and then blend.

don't get radish sprouts unless you want your sprouts spicy.

got alfalfa going now. here are pics of 2 day old sprouts in the bag (they stop growing in the fridge) and the alfalfa I started this morn.
