Depends on the diet, I have 3 different diets. 2 of which have lots of shakes like I'd say 6-8 a day, the other is just a pwo shake. All 3 have 300+ g of protien.
I usually drink one a day just to help get my numbers where they are supposed to be. I was going to work on that tonight to get rid of the shakes from my diet completely and just adding a little more food. Is there anything bad about drinking shakes versus eating whole foods?

thats one of those questions everyone will have an opinion on, all I know is there are plenty of 250+lb dude who get a lot of there protein from shakes. Much more than the all I eat is chicken type. I go on whole food as my primary protein source on my maintanence diet, but when bulking or cutting I use shakes a ton.
I used to do anywhere from 6 to 10 a day, sometimes more. One small meal of chicken and greens and that was it as far as a regular meal. Oh, and I have put every possible mustard there is on chicken breasts. But protein powder and water Every 2 hours around the clock except when I was sleeping. If I woke up in the middle of the night, I got up and drank protein. I did the protein powder thing out of convenience. I didnt want to take time cooking. I got down to low single digit body fat doing it that way too. Oh yes, I got lectured from people I know that said I needed real food to get ripped. But I was supplementing with handfuls of greens like chlorella and spirulina all day long, which I still do. I totally think you can do it on protein powder. I wish I could cook like FIST, it might make life less boringLOL...but for someone who doesnt know how to cook outside of a george foreman grill and a paper plate like me, protein powder was a God Send. I remember seeing guys carrying their meals in tupperware and thinking "Wow, what a hassle that is", just give me a can of powder and a blender with water and Im good to go. Thats a meal. I know my energy levels were always very high on that regimen and never lost any muscle. It does seem strange to some people.
I think you can overdo protein shakes and especially a large amout ingested at once. For some people it is hard to process that much protein at once, and at all. I take a digestive enzyme with a higher amout of protease if I am taking in a lot of protein. For me I only consume about 1 shake a day.
Is it more expensive to drink protein shakes or eat the food? I have heard that protein shakes end up being more expensive that just eating the foods...

right now i am doing 2 protein shakes a day and the rest is solid food. Sometimes it will be 3-4 day. the key is making sure you are getting a blend protein in my opinion. whey/casein. Im making good progress with what im doing right now and am going to stay on track. Cooking chicken is so easy though guys. Get the tenders lay them 1 deep in a metal baking dish season 25 min at 375 in the oven bam done and tasty.

i take a whey iso/milk iso/caisein blend, 50/30/20%. it cost $1 for a 50gram shake. if i break down the mct and fish oil i take with it, i doubt it adds much cost.
