i hear ya baby i felt the same way. im a new patient and it was my first visit with her. ibuprofen im only taking once a day after work out but even that stresses me out. she only gave me prednisone and said to take it for 5 days at 5 pills in the morning at once with food. said if things dont get better by our check up that we could try other options.

Sorry but that is bs!!! yes, sometimes MRI's do not show evrything but they do show soft tissue and may show something. was this a regular doc? Watch that ibuprofen hard on the tummy for some. Drink lots of water too. Dd you get a Medrol dosepack or just prednisone?

My thoughts are, you go in to see her for the first time, you are muscular and in good shape. You hurt, she judges you on your appearance. pacifies you with some meds and says MRI won't do much. This has happened to Fuzo many times at the doc and it pisses me off so much. Some docs look at people amd pass judgement by how they look. It has happened to me too. DO not go back to that doc and if it as me I wouldn't even take that prednisone but that is me so do what your doc says if you want

yea i know its a shitty situation. ive ran into it before where the doctor told me at the er that my stomach pains were due to steroid use and i need to discontinue them and it will go away when in reality i took some antibiotics and my pain went away cause it was an intestinal infection. it is what it is though and u just try to deal with profiling as best as u can. thats why i love my chiropractor he knows i use stuff and he just likes to learn from me what i take and what it does. and treats me great. unfortunetly this is something that isnt fixable by a chiropractor. ill see what i can do about getting a new doctor on my case and fortunetly i have insurance so i didnt pay for the visit. no co pay or anything. i know the prednisone will prob not work but id rather be honest and take them all and so its easier for me to tell her it really didnt work and i did try it.

prednisone can increase appetite too and cause some bloating but f you are on short tem, probably will be nothing> You are good, I just tell them I took it amn it didn't work,lol

i dont feel bloated but i was up 4 pounds today in the morning sitting at 214 lol normally 210-211 : )

I have had lower back surgery twice on the same disc for a slipped/ruptured/bulging disc that pinched my sciatic nerve. The last one happened while I was in Iraq three years ago. If the same disc slips again I have to have my vertebra fused together using bone from my hip and metal to build the cage with. My point is that I am all too familiar with the pain from the sciatic nerve being pinched. The longer the nerve is pinched the higher the chance of permanent nerve damage. Well, my last surgery was performed after only about 3 weeks of the nerve being injured and sure enough I have permanent nerve damage. My three small toes on my right foot are now numb forever. Talk about annoying. Anyway, if the pain is constant then you seriously need to have surgery unless somehow the disc slides back in. You need to get an MRI asap to determine the damage to the disc. If the disc ruptured then there is no chance of it getting better on its own. On my last one there were pieces of disc scattered along my nerve. In that sort of case the surgeon has to remove every single piece of disc and cut away any disc that is bulging out from the vertebra too if such is the case.

I prefer a neurosurgeon over an orthopedic for this type of injury. Both of my surgeries were performed by a neurosurgeon and went well. A lot of family practitioners will want to refer you to an orthopedic but I just told mine I wanted a neuro and he obliged.

I'd get the MRI asap and see a neuro before you get worse or have permanent nerve damage.

I prefer a neurosurgeon over an orthopedic for this type of injury. Both of my surgeries were performed by a neurosurgeon and went well. A lot of family practitioners will want to refer you to an orthopedic but I just told mine I wanted a neuro and he obliged.

im not positive if my insurance will cover me requesting an mri instead of the doctor requesting one... i know this sounds silly in all considering my health is very important but i will say my back has made improvements. its the only reason why i havent done anything drastic. ive never been cut open once and i kinda wanna keep it that way as much as possible :/

You need an order from a doctor to get an MRI so you are right, you cannot request one. I wouldn't jump im to surgery either. First you would need more testing to confirm what the issue is. An EMG would be a good test too. Maybe the meds are getting the inflammation down? Even if they are, it may only be a temporary solution.

yea and i told the doctor that too, that i dont want a temporary solution. i want a complete fix.
