I remember the very first time in a gymj for me. It was after my stint in the service (seabees) and used my GI bill to go to college. I was thin at 172# and 6'3". There was a bar with 2 full plates on each side 225#. I got on the bench and did it a couple times.
On the bench I never moved up from 225# while in college but did reps of 225# working up tp 15 or so. I talked a team doctor in prescribing dinanbol to be and quickly went up to 187# then 196# and topped out at 203# all while wearing 32x36 jeans.
