Anyone change career fields into something completely different than there career before? I'm talking careers not jobs. I'm not talking working at McDonals to being a house cleaner! Those are "jobs" not careers/professions!

      Re: Career

Since I no longer have a "career" I now would like just a "job". I see myself working in a quiet or fun place. Like when I go to the book store or library, I could easily work there. The other plav would be "Trader Joes". I shope there weekly and it seems like a fun place, people are nice and the music they play in there is GREAT! I probably would get in trouble there for to much singing or dancing. At this point in my life...a job would suit me well

Yep I did. I'll say the older you get the harder it seems. It was probably the best thing I ever did even though it can be challenging. If you don't like what you do it affects everything else in your life.

I've been in my career for 8 years now. I enjoy it and I'm good at what I do. Plus there are many avenues to advance, so I've never really thought about changing. On the other hand I am always brainstorming and coming up with business ideas and such. My mind never stops working lol.

yeah i worked 7 years in the health department and then 10 years ago i took another position in the city that was totally different. had to relearn everything but it was more$ and i like it a ton better.

yes, that is a very small move but alas a move up.

                      Re: Career

Had been sitting on this acreage for years and never imagined I would farm it. Its been sort of a hobby for weekends and evenings during the growing season from march until November. It started out as part of my training , it was like cardio, so I kept buying trees and digging holes to burn fat lol Now am working toward a full blown tree farm with thousands of trees. Its amazing to walk through an orchard that I planted, knowing that it was bare prairie land before I started digging and planting 10 years ago as a supplement to my gym workouts. Now if I can get the well pump working I can irrigate the whole place.

I am just so grateful that I was able to hang on to my property through bankruptcy and foreclosure after a 2 month hospitalization 6 years ago. When it went into foreclosure, I had to make double mortgage payment for 12 months, every month I got a letter in the mail saying my home would be sold with the date and time of the sale. If I missed one payment, my home would have been sold out from under me. Those were some very tough times but I pulled through it and saved my business and property. Whew
