    Re: FLORIDA BABY!!

^ I don't think the SEC needed vindication. Even a casual football fan knows it is a great conference. I do share your distaste for USC though.

SEC was vindicated with this win....maybe now everyone will get off USC nuts....that said, any given night any team can win....definitely want a playoff system

No one will argue with you that the SEC is the best/toughest conference in the NCAA, but take off your orange glasses. Look at all the NFL talent that comes out of the Big Ten - especially its top two programs. The Gators are a great team, especially when it mattered the most, but OSU definitely deserved to be in that game. If they played the game 10 times, I would bet my life that the average score would be pretty close - not close to 41-14 in favor of UF.

I am not going to make excuses, but if you watched the game you would have seen a UF team with a better game plan, better execution, and better in-game coaching. The notion that they have vastly superior players is laughable. You also saw a lethargic OSU team who got down early after stupid penalties and turnovers, lost one of their best playmakers in Ginn, lost their cool and confidence, and was forced to play catch up throwing the ball on 90% of their downs. Not a good recipe for a win. But Florida put them in that postion, and that's part of the game - they deserve credit. I hate to admit that Tressel and the coordinators were outcoached, because they are among the best in football - but it is true. Meyer and staff deserve credit. It was a complete schooling. But don't discredit yourself with hyperbole. Just enjoy your NC and the satisfaction of having soundly beaten another great team.

By the way, Troy Smith was never going to be a top 5 pick. At about 6'-0" tall, he will be a late first or early second like Drew Brees a few years ago. NFL people put a lot of weight on measureables. However, I do think there will be some teams who will wish they had drafted him five years from now.
Say what you want bro, but UF sent four guys after Troy Smith and they pressured him all night. Now, tell me how four guys man handle 5-6 blockers, and still get pressure on the QB if they aren't superior players. UF didn't have to blizt hardly at all because their front four manhandles OSU's offense. That's just a fact. It's not like UF sent 6-7 guys every play, they sent four, that it's, just four guys made Troy Smiths life hell that night. That's superior athletes, plain and simple. If UF had sent 6-7 guys every play, I would not be saying anything, but they didn't so it's obvious UF has much superior players.

Also, the point you made about OSU getting down and all that just shows what they are made of. Look at how many bowl games this year where teams were down big time at half time and came back to win. They didn't have pitty parties or fall apart, they nutted up and made it happen. UGA was down 21-3 at half, they looked like crap, they came back and won 34-24. It's all about attitude and OSU gave up, which is not characteristic of a National Contender. A true National Contender would have fought to the end, not give up.

And, the loss of one guy does not make a team. I know you said you aren't making excuses for them, but that one guy would not have made any difference on the pressure UF got on the QB. That one guy deffinately would not have made any difference on UF's ability to score 41 points on OSU. OSU got beat in every aspect of that game. I don't see how a team that supposed to be that good get's beat that bad.

By the way, I actually hate the Gators, I'm a UGA fan, but after that performace, UF proved their point in grand fashion. No doubt they deserved that chance.

USC, OSU, Texas, it's all the same. Any time you can have one or two teams run a conference year after year after year, it's obviously not a strong conference. It's just not. And yes, I agree, a playoff system would have probably had LSU and UF in that title game. LSU's defense was awesome this past year. I think the top 16 teams should go into the tourny and the others can do their own bowls. Also, teams from the same coference must all be in different brackets.
