It was really a combination of things. I think the biggest thing was that OSU, for whatever reason, simply could not pass block against Florida's rush. As a Buckeye fan, I must give the Gators their due - they kicked our asses. I think their game plan was better - or at least much better executed than ours. This is the first time I have ever seen a Tressel team struggle like this. I am still baffled by the result as I'm sure most are. I do not think that OSU was overrated, but they were certainly outplayed, and maybe outcoached as well last night. Congrats Gators.Comment

Both OSU and Michigan got their asses beat, NEITHER one deserved to be in that game. The polls were right and UF proved it by spanking the **** out of OSU. Period. If anyone in the Big 10 proved themselves it was Wisconsin, and that was a close game. The two best teams in the Big 10 got owned. Period.Originally posted by wolfyEVH

Yeah, just look at the difference in conferences. UF beats UGA 21-14 and if there were a few more minutes, who knows. But that's not the point, the point is UGA, a team that lost 4 games when their true freshman QB took over, was able to hold UF to 21 points and score the same amount of points as OSU did. They did this with a TRUE freshman QB and a defense with injuries. Not to mention, UGA knocked Auburn out of the top 5, GA Tech out ofthe top 15 and Virginia Tech out of the top 15 to finish the season. The only losses UGA suffered were to other SEC teams. And, Auburn was the team that beat UF. So, that just goes to show you how damn tough the SEC really is. No one just runs the table in the SEC, it's to damn tough. That's why there were 5, count them 5, different teams from the SEC in the top 10 this year at one point or another. You're delusional if you believe that last night's game is a true representation of the Ohio State program - or the Big Ten in general. No one will argue with you that the SEC is the best/toughest conference in the NCAA, but take off your orange glasses. Look at all the NFL talent that comes out of the Big Ten - especially its top two programs. The Gators are a great team, especially when it mattered the most, but OSU definitely deserved to be in that game. If they played the game 10 times, I would bet my life that the average score would be pretty close - not close to 41-14 in favor of UF.
I am not going to make excuses, but if you watched the game you would have seen a UF team with a better game plan, better execution, and better in-game coaching. The notion that they have vastly superior players is laughable. You also saw a lethargic OSU team who got down early after stupid penalties and turnovers, lost one of their best playmakers in Ginn, lost their cool and confidence, and was forced to play catch up throwing the ball on 90% of their downs. Not a good recipe for a win. But Florida put them in that postion, and that's part of the game - they deserve credit. I hate to admit that Tressel and the coordinators were outcoached, because they are among the best in football - but it is true. Meyer and staff deserve credit. It was a complete schooling. But don't discredit yourself with hyperbole. Just enjoy your NC and the satisfaction of having soundly beaten another great team.
By the way, Troy Smith was never going to be a top 5 pick. At about 6'-0" tall, he will be a late first or early second like Drew Brees a few years ago. NFL people put a lot of weight on measureables.
