  • Work trip last week

So last week six of us from corporate flew out to Chicago for a refresher course on life fitness/hammer strength equipment at their hq. We had two days of classes and hands on stuff and three of us from my group got to be part of a focus group to give feedback on a new model treadmill they were going to be releasing. It was nice to be recognized for our experience(I've been a tech for seven years now) and for them to want our feedback. We were also given nice hammer strength golf jackets and a planner. The heads of service, sales and engineering took us out for dinner and drinks two nights out of the week. After our testing was done they went over the answers but weren't giving out individual scores. Then before we parted the factory for our focus group one of the instructors pulled me aside and shook my hand and said I got a 97 which was the highest score in the class. It felt good to get that validation from the instructors. Of course on the downside we didn't get to train at all while we were away and we drank every damn night but it was a good bonding experience for us all. The other amazing thing to me was I didn't watch tv at all for five days. We were just in class and then out for dinner and drinks and then bed. I am anxious to get to the gym in the am. Time to get back to it.

That is one cool business trip man. I am not at all surprised you scored highest. If anyone knows the ins and outs of a gym and its equipment its you. Thanks for sharing bro.

Sounds like you had a great time and were recognized for your personal strength and your well rounded dedication. Thanks for sharing your experience. Is there anything about this new treadmill that will actually make me want to do more cardio?

I didn't even think of it. It was five of us and my boss. We ate at giordanos one night. It was my first time having real deep dish pizza. We got meat lovers and it was good. We also ate at another place that has either an ice hockey rink or turf there in the courtyard that they change seasonally for sports. There is a few bars there too. I can't remember the name now. Maybe something with park in the name. The other nights we just ate in at the bar on the hotel. We were at the Hyatt place on Manheim. With no vehicles we were at the mercy of the guys from life fitness and the last night we took a taxi. Was I far from you guys?

That Hyatt has been there along time and is huge! Do they still have a bar at the top of one of the buildings? Not far from there at all.

After the second dinner out with the life fitness guys I told them if they wanted we could fly out quarterly and meet them for some r&d. I'd totally do it.
