I was always told to put vaseline on them to smother them. Haven't had chiggers since I was a kid, so can't remember if it worked, but anything is worth a shot when you itch that bad.

In basic we were setting up a patrol base and i was laid down in a pile of grass and next thing i know i realized these things where ALL OVER the grass there. I never knew what they where i thought they were small ticks. my uniform saved me from getting bit, maybe one or 2 on my hand. I did a search and seen the bites holy crap! something so small can do that? I wish i could help out.

I don't know how well they work but do a google search about chigger bites and you can find some natural remedies. Theres some things on there about baking soda, aspirin, menthol and nail polish. Maybe one of them can help.
