i have always had bass boats. i sold mine several years ago so i could get a motorcycle. well i bought a kayak off craigslist for $150
how relaxing.
wind was out of the east, made the bite real hard but found a protected cove with a lot of willow which normally pays off big time. saw some decent fish cruising but no matter what i threw they would not bite. tried watermelon texas rigged lizard (that is go to bait here and now) spinner bait, senko, pitching a jig (hard from a yak) finesse wacky worm. rapala jerk bait............ nothing.
who cares it was awesome out there. i have been to ponds but never the big lake. did have about a 4' gar swim right up to the kayak following my bait and just sit there like he expected it to fall back in the water. I could have tapped him on the head.
saw some carp probably weighed 30-40#. thought about next time bringing some dough bait. a 30# fish puts up a helluva fight.
they did not get spooked by the kayak like they would a bass rig.
got skunked but when i was back on the shore with my yak on top of the jeep i was so relaxed
