Too Young to Shave Legs?

I'm a proud father of 2 little girls. My oldest is 9yrs old. She got a hold of her mommy's razor the other night during her bath and shaved her legs. Me and her mother had a talk with her and explained to her that she is too young to be concerned about that. It was an easy talk and my daughter understood. No argument. nothing. It was a very simple understanding.
I have a pretty good idea of, around, what age I'm going to accept it. But I'd like to hear from some other parents out there. And, those of you that aren't parents, please feel free to give me your opinion as to what you think an acceptable & appropriate age for young women to shave their legs might be.

Nine is young, however, some girls legs can get hairy and if it is darker than it may start to bother them. Kids can be so cruel and tease sometimes. My girl is a lil older and she has asked too. She hasn't started yet but I told her once she does...she will be doing it forever. Did she say why she did it?

To young mine started around 12-13 I believe but they grow up fast mine is a sophomore in college now and I worry but I raised her right I hope.

What ever you both decide as parents and what you feel is right. I think 9 is to young for a phone and kids have those at that age too

I think the age of puberty is a good line to set. The hair and body itself start doing funny things that bother them.

Like baby said make sure she knows once you start it's forever!!! Also the darker hair I could see as an issue but 9??!!! 9 year old have a tough time brushing their teeth let alone routinely shaving legs!

mine started with trimmers at 12 and i didnt approve of that but got over ridden by the mrs. the it grows back thicker and faster was my defense but that didnt work to well in my case. once you start i explained it is a lifetime commitment for the most part. now those ass holes use up all of my razors

In the end it comes down to what you think is best for your children based on values you want then to grow up with. Thinking as a father i would say 9 is to young but also touching on what baby said kids are really really mean and girls can be very rough on each other. I would try to find out why she did it and see if maybe there is a different issues that needs to be addressed. I would say middle school would more the apprepriate age? most if not all the girls in my middle school shaves there legs. That would be likes ages 11-13?

Like baby said and like we all know once you start shaving it starts coming in and never stops so thats another thing to let her know and consider.

MINE JUST STARTED THIS YEAR AND SHE IS 11.. I WAS AGAINST IT TILL SHE SAID KIDS AT SCHOOL WERE MAKING FUN OF HER FOR HAVING HAIR ON HER LEGS..I GAVE HER THE OK.

if i had a girl i would say not until you get out on your own. no makeup and maybe a burka. haha

seriously i would say when you and your wife feel comfortable with it. is there a set time? nope.

She said she just want to see how it looked. I'm sure she's just reaching for that maturity that all pre-teens start to reach for. She has blond hair so I don't think she was teased about it because you can hardly see peach-fuzz on her legs. Her Mom did give her the "once you start, it's everyday" line. She's a very good girl. She obeys so well. I don't have anything to worry about there.

I'm in agreement with 6p6. I don't remember if I mentioned puberty, but I do remember hitting on her being around that age when she'll truly need to shave.
