I believe it's very selfish. Although I think that people who do this are not thinking correctly and are very depressed. An 18 year old girl just jumped off the Dam intake bridge to her death. It's saddening.
One thing to think about when making assumptions that life couldn't be that bad for a "rich comedian ". No one knows the demons we all could have inside. Very often comedy is used as a coping skill to cover up insecurities, self loathing and wanting to feel loved and accepted. Unfortunately the fame an success doesn't fix the real issues and sometimes makes it so much worse. Think about belushi, Farley and river Phoenix. All tremendously successful but in the end no amount of fame or recognition could fix what was wrong with them.
I read a quick article by Peter mcgough about mike matarazo refusing an invite to the 2007 Olympia as a guest a after his health had been in decline because "I'm not mike matarazo anymore." He physical presence was such an integral part of him that without it he did not feel like himself anymore. He didn't feel like anyone would want to see him in such a frail state. It is truly sad to hear how damaged many of us are despite what it looks like as an outsider.
Money is over rated imo. Money does not by happiness at all...it buys things. Doesn't take money to be clean, kind and happy so when people say that stuff about "Rich people who have money killing themselves"...pisses me off. That's my story,lol
that's really sad. I personally subscribe to the 7 times down 8 times up train of thought but have been through times when I've been down and just kind of layed there for a while.
