This is a great movie that I highly recommend if you like these types of movies. I liked the this one even better than part 1 The Hobbit. I am a huge LOR fan too but I honestly believe the Hobbit is a little better if I had to choose, yet both trilogies are amazing.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Still, there will always be those who prefer the book and those the movie.
it is not a better story in the movie. another analogy. would you prefer hooking up with a fine woman for 2 hours or the same woman after she gained 250# because you could get with her 3X HAHA

I do see your point though still. I thought Atlas Shrugged the movie was terrible and did no justice for the book. I won't even watch the second one, and god forbid they have a third one. They didn't even come close to getting it right. I might feel the same with the Hobbit had I read the book, but because I like the movie so well I am not going to read the book. A guy at work said the same thing as you but he did enjoy the second Hobbit, just not the first. He still prefers the book though.Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force.
