  • The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

This is a great movie that I highly recommend if you like these types of movies. I liked the this one even better than part 1 The Hobbit. I am a huge LOR fan too but I honestly believe the Hobbit is a little better if I had to choose, yet both trilogies are amazing.

i was disappointed in all the "filler" story line they added that was not from the book. the LOTR trilogy was much more close to Tolkien's vision and what he wrote.

it was a good movie just not great IMO

A lot or people share your view. Personally I haven't read the book, as I mainly stick to non-fiction for my reading. With that said, I don't want to read the book now that I have seen the movie because it seems to me that the director made it a better story. Still, there will always be those who prefer the book and those the movie.

oh, the director did not make it a better story. in no way has that happened. the filler they added convoluted the total of the story. think if they added 5 guitar solos that were not part of your favorite song for the sole purpose of extending it so they could make 3 songs rather than have just one for $$$.

it is not a better story in the movie. another analogy. would you prefer hooking up with a fine woman for 2 hours or the same woman after she gained 250# because you could get with her 3X HAHA

Lol, nice analogies. I still prefer the movie in this case though. I just love the LOR and Hobbit movies. I was glad to hear there would be three of them because I enjoy them that much. I get it though, they made it much longer than it had to be, but for me, it works. I liked the character build up in the first Hobbit, and I loved everything about the second one, especially the dragon.

I do see your point though still. I thought Atlas Shrugged the movie was terrible and did no justice for the book. I won't even watch the second one, and god forbid they have a third one. They didn't even come close to getting it right. I might feel the same with the Hobbit had I read the book, but because I like the movie so well I am not going to read the book. A guy at work said the same thing as you but he did enjoy the second Hobbit, just not the first. He still prefers the book though.

Want to see this but life's not affording me a spare 3 hours for the theatre! Probably going to take breaking it up into pieces to watch it!
