MANDATORY FLU SHOT?!?!

OK..so the job I'm on is contracted form a Hospital. Their policy is that all subcontractors are required to get the flu shot. I AM NOT COOL WITH THIS. Under state law there is an exemption for religion and I have a letter to submit explaining this, but I'm worried I won't be able to stay employed. It's utter bullshit. We aren't even in the Hospital but a new building with no patients or staff. AND I AM AGAINST THE SHOT..IT'S BEEN PROVEN IT'S NOT EVEN EFFECTIVE IN STOPPING THE TRANSMISSION OF THE FLU OR A GUARANTEE YOU WON'T GET IT. Has anyone else been in this spot? THIS BLOWS

Yes, I worked in a hospital; for 7 years and it was required. Even the hepatistis vaccine was required, but only if you worked with patients. Does sound a bit ridiculous that they are making you do this. Tell them you are allergic to eggs. They used to say you couldnt get it if you were, not sure about that anymore. Is this a union job you have?

yup. all hospital work period. their policy I to had to get one, wasn't happy but I like money and figured if I got sick from it they was paying for it. I forget exactly what the reason was but if you don't get it and they want to be dicks they will get you booted. now on the positive I have been working for the hospital for a few years now and only was forced once and have never heard of any of the subs being booted for not getting one. certain years they seem to pick on certain things it seems when it comes to subs

union yes...but it's not my union's mandate..stinkin Hospital. Maybe I'll say I'm afraid of needles..lol

i used to be against it but every damn year i got the flu and was down 10 days with coughing and other effects lasting a month. i reluctantly started getting it and in the last 7 years i have not had the flu.

i still do not give the shot to my son, but then he has not had the flu one time. my wife works in the OB/GYN and always gets the shot. for me the benefits outweigh any potential detriments. but i absolutely understand your reluctance as before i get the shot i feel a large bubble of hesitancy

if you have to get it as I did they will give you one free at the hospital itself. I figured I would rather they do it than some walgreens or Osco drug store. then just scan or copy your paperwork then next year all you got to do is change the date and the office will just drop your paperwork into there file. no questions.

thatys bullshit. no flu shot for me. i even stopped shopping at cvs becuase they wont stop telling me about the flu shot. I told the lady put a damn sign up and stop pestering me everytime a buy something

They will ask you if you are allergic to eggs...tell them yes, triiblly and that should not get you a flu shot

I never get asked .. Its just mandatory . The nurse comes in before the doctor see's me , gives my daughter and I the shot and leaves lol.

So here is how I handled it. Walked in pharmacy, paid for the shot, got receipt and strolled out the door. Shoulda saw the look on her face..lol. Pretty sure they are not gonna call every employees pharmacy and make sure it was administered. I wish I was in a position to put up a bigger fight for my rights, but if I lost it would be no good. They wanna play the game, I can play...

haha i see zoot outsmarted them but if you are allergic to eggs they give you the nasal one or vice versa. in the military you cant refuse and it made me sick every freaking time. the shot and the nasal one both killed me every year. now i have the right to refuse.
