Joined the army in 1996. My first two years were as a paratrooper in the 82nd airborne division. Last 16 years have been in the special forces community. 3 afghan tours and 2 Iraq. 2 years til retirement! Thanks for all the support baby1 and FG!
usmc mid 90s until i retired a few years ago. did just about everything under the sun from recon to the new special ops stuff when it first formed before i retired.
4 tours in iraq including the invasion
4 tours in the med
numerous other deployments to other crap holes to count or note.
i forgot that i also did some contracting work after i retired as well as ran an instructor cadre training people getting ready to go down range and some security consulting work. i would have to say other than blowing stuff up and breaking down doors training people that want to learn real time material was some of the best time i spent serving or working for the state dept. i freaking loved doing that stuff so much. not to mention attaining master instruct status and being a member of the million round club.
loved every minute of it for the most part and now i get old and fat as in enjoy being retired hanging with the real old timers from the vfw.
02-09 Army & three lovely year long vacations to Iraq including Americas big knock at the door. Was a helicopter mechanic but spent plenty of time as a door gunner and a truck turret gunner. Rock of the Marne!

funny you mention being a door gunner. most people dont realize that the door gunner is actually a crew chief or a mechanic on the aircraft. two jobs that this guy would never want to do cause being covered in hydralic fluid and doing maintaince is for the birds.
tango yankee for your service sir
