Calling all ladies.... Engagement ring time

Just looking for some opinions on what you would like, recomend, suggest.....

I have two basic thoughts.... either a solitare with mid range stats, so i casn get a large rock...... maybe 1.25 - 1.5 Ct with platnum setting....

or a smaller center rock with side baguetts.... platnum setting

im not too well off right now, and I am moving this summer, so money is a bit of a concern. But if im going to do it, i want to do it right. i want something that will catch the eye.. that is why im leaning toward the larger solitare......

any feedback would be great.........

how long have you been goin out? how much $$ can you spend...you say you dont have $$ but the ring you wanna buy looks like it would cost like 6K...maybe thats not much for you though, who knows. but give us a lil more info.

well she doesnt seem to mind either way....... we have discussed what she likes... and her only real request is a princess cut..... other than that, she said she likes my taste and knows i would get something nice looking... she says she doesnt need something huge, but what ladie wouldnt want a 1.5 ct diamond over a .70ct diamond.......

we have been together 3 years.... I would love to get out with only dropping 3K but thats not very realistic other than going to zales and grabbing something off the rack.....

with my move coming up and no job set up... im thinking i will have to sell a little stock to stay afloat for the first couple of months, till i find a job... so i could always grab an extra couple thousand and put it toward the ring.....

maybe the 1.5ct rock is a little unrealistic....

When i was looking i fell in love with:

Round Cut
1.5 Ct
G VVS1

Absolutly stunning diamond, investment quality. I believe it was 10K when i was looking a couple years ago.

I know for a fact you can get it cheaper (we broke up, soo needless to say i never investigated further) , the only problem with non-round cute stones is that they do not hold there value.

ummm, 1.5 is way unrealistic, no offense...especially if you want platinum...that shits expensive.

im no expert on diamonds... but i was thinking if i go with slightly lower quality H, I, J, K color.... mid range clarity... nothing that is obvious to the naked eye thought, I could get a larger rock with out having something that looks like complete shit.

should i waite till i get down to florida... were moving to tallahassee and the cost of living is quite lower than where i am living now (Washington D.C. area) would it make any difference on something like this... i know our morgage is considerable lower.
