its not stuck up, its good, but it you go with quality, it will sparkle a lot better and look nicer than a big, dull stone, if you know what i mean.

yeah i hear ya... .93-1ct no big difference... 1ct-1.5 should be pretty noticible though.... i guess this is something i need to make more of a decision on when im actually looking at the rings...... kinda hard to decide on something like this in just theory....

i'd rather have a 1ct with better quality than a 1.5ct with midrange quality.

My suggestion is to ask your girl what she prefers. Although she has stated that she likes the princess cut, figure out if she wants a solitaire (bigger diamond), or if she'd like to have the baguettes around a smaller center stone. Let her decide. After all, she's the one that's going to be ultimately wearing it everyday for presumably the rest of her life.

One of my favorite local designers (in Colorado) is John Atencio. Check out his site for ideas and inspiration (www.johnatencio.com) and if you ever find anything you really like from a disgustingly overpriced designer, copy the design and take it to a custom jewler that will make it the way YOU (rather: SHE) wants it.
