Who has canceled their Directv, DISH, etc....and what do you do?

I am thinking about getting rid of our Directv because it's just high and we don't really use it. The only thing I will miss will be Bates Motel (I love that show), Duck Dynasty, and any MMA. I'm thinking I can probably catch these online.


For the ones that have done this, what do you guys do? And do you still see your shows? We have an Xbox and I can work on getting laptop connectivity with the tv. I also figure I can get one of the antennas for the over the air HD stuff.

What do you guys think? We are trying to cut back on bills which have gotten ridiculous

Just stick with basic cable no premium channels

We don't have cable where we are. It's either Directv or DISH. I heard DISH sucked and we have a grandfathered Directv package that still costs 100.00 per month.

We have Direct TV and just dropped about 2 tiers...gonna save like $80-$100/month. Mainly the movie channels and another tier that we never used. We were able to keep a couple of the sports channels for hockey/soccer/rugby. We've discussed running NetFlicks thru the PS3 but quite haven't gotten that far.

We have Direct TV and just dropped about 2 tiers...gonna save like $80-$100/month. Mainly the movie channels and another tier that we never used. We were able to keep a couple of the sports channels for hockey/soccer/rugby. We've discussed running NetFlicks thru the PS3 but quite haven't gotten that far.

I hate that these companies give great deals to new customers. Ive been with Comcast for years and I hate seeing new customer promotions for half what i pay. All I want is internet. No TV, but its a cheaper package to have TV. All TV does is brainwash my kids to thinking they need every gadget on TV.

I canceled our cable about 6 months ago. What we do now is I installed aHD digital antenna on the roof and we get about 35 channels. We also have HULU plus and Netflix so I pay under $20 a month.

As far as I know, I have those channels. I got rid of the movie channels which were 501-565ish and a couple of the 600 channels. Hope that helps

I think i'm into mine about $160 and that is with a nice signal booster. Mine is good to a distance of 200 plus miles. The cool thing is, I have a better picture with the antenna that I every did with cable or direct TV.

Yeah, this was part of my plan. I think I'm going to check out those antenna setups while I still have the Directv service and then once I get it working, I'll drop Directv.

I just called Directv to ask about their online billing being messed up and ended up walking away with a 25.00 per month credit on my bill for the next 12 months....haha! Just goes to show you what they can REALLY do.
