He's been sick for sometime. Kidneys seem to be a common theme among recent bodybuilder deaths. Three things I attribute this to: competing snd getting as "dry" as the judges want is so harsh on organs and when these guys compete for a decade or more imagine the organ failures are vastly underestimated. Secondly, insulin. The use of insulin in diabetics alone has shone huge risk on kidneys, imagine what abuse and over use does? Thirdly the long term use of large amount of oral AAS.
Sure there are other reasons too.

He wsa never really a top contender unfortunately but he was a trully gentleman of the sport.
