  • Tactical Pens

i few months back there was a post about pocket knives. There were several great pics and it really got me interested. since then i've picked up about 30 of them all different sorts including OTF's and autos and many different sizes. Some really nice onces from Microtech, Piranha and Benchmade. Even picked up an auto for my wife to carry.

Here in NJ, the laws are very strict with carrying any sort of knife. That hasn't stopped me but, on some occassions, i do not carry depending on where we go.

So, started looking into tactical pens. Just something else to carry if not a knife and can get through several checkpoints includign airports

I picked up an UZI, S&W and Maxam. These are not only nice looking but really write well.

    Anyone have one of these?

then may i suggest anything bench made in an auto and if you can still find them blackhawk mod mk2. i carry a mk 2 personally and that thing has made it through 3 trips to iraq and been beat to hell and it is still perfect. bench made also speaks for itself, no description required

                        Re: Tactical Pens

i have an cheap uzi tac pen. i carry at work because i go into peoples properties for inspections and many are hostile. (also have a knife)

no experience with any others than the uzi but it is a nice heavy and sturdy pen that writes well. the pocket clip is super tough. it also has a glass breaker at the top. the mechanism that extends the writing tip is a bit slow to come out but no big deal.

you can spend a lot more but i am happy with this one. again it is heavy and chunky and if i wrote constantly may not be that comfortable as the grip is aluminum but i do write quite a bit and once used to the heft it is quite nice.

oh and the pen cartridge writes smooth as silk. (until you drop it but you can get refills at any office store)

my first was an Uzi and i have to tell you for the price you cant beat it. writes real nice, get a replacment gel cartridge and works better, and is solid. the others i got are S&W's and recently a Shrade and CRKT

forgot to mention. Bladehq will sell you type of knife you want whether OTF or auto however will not sell me a Tactical Pen due to state law. Doesn't make sence
