Raising minimum wage increases prices on the market economy and increases unemployment. However, the main concern I have with unemployment is that it does not defend the right to work. If two people (employee and employer) agree to a wage in exchange for work then nobody should be able to prevent them from such an agreement. Working is voluntarily, and thus if people are willing to work for a low wage then it is fair. Conversely, if the wage wasn't fair then people would stop working for that wage and the employer would be forced to either raise the wage or go out of business. It's as simple as that but politicians don't get it, or at least those on the left don't get it.
