  • anyone like to camp?

my brother and i are planning a trip to the sierra nevada mountains. going to hike in with just what we can carry in our packs and stay for 5 days (tough with just a 50L pack)

my buddy from work has a $40K camper he tows with a $50K truck and calls that camping while sitting in between 2 campers just like his. satellite dishes, showers, stove ect

i am paying for airfare and supplies and i feel my time will be spent surviving and reveling in the outdoors (cigars and a bottle of scotch will help me revel)

how about you? are you a rv person or a minimalist camper?

That sounds like a great vacation and very relaxing. When I was kid we camped all of the time and I loved it. Fuzo and I have been camping a few times too. Nothing better then getting away from all the technical stuff in ife and enjoying nature. Have a blast!!

We have a hunting Cabin that we used to use all the time.. haven't been out there at all since my boys were born, ...so..about 3 years. Even up there we would take tents and sleep out in the field rather than the house. There is something about actually being "IN" nature that is so much nicer. Can't wait to start going back up there now that the boys are getting old enough to enjoy it.

We love camping and are definitely a minamalist camping bunch. The entire idea of camping is to get away form the modern chaos of today and become one with nature.Great way to get in some quality family time.Fishing, trapping, cooking over and open fire pit.LOVE IT!!!

                      Re: anyone like to camp?

being in the military ruined pleasure camping for me. i spent an entire career living in the bush all over the world and now i just cant enjoy it for fun. it also ruined any chances of me taking a cruise. i spent a lot of travel time of ships which also ruined that for me as well

I'm an experienced mountaineer and backpacker. I've climbed many 14000 peaks in both summer and winter.
I've also done a ton of winter ascents in the Sierra mountains.

I use a 85 liter pack though, I don't know how you carry enough gear and food in a 50 liter pack.
