    Paid a card off today!

    Woohoo!! I paid off a credit card today! That account is gone. Now I have 2 more. 1 is for some furniture that we bought at no interest and then the other is a biggie!

    This may not sound like a big deal, but I have been working on the snowball effect on my bills. Now I can take this and add it to the next one and pay it off quicker. I'm trying to get my wife into school in May.

    I think I have me a 2nd part time job lined out too. I will be debt free in no time!!!!

    Awesome..that feeling you get from that carries over and you find yourself paying stuff off easier and easier...law of attraction in action!!!

      Good job! It feels great to get rid of debt.

        with the economy like it is you should call your credit card companies and they might work with you on lowering your rate and getting the amount down. We called discover and they lowered our card down to a very very low rate but the catch was that we cant use the card anymore until its payed off. Its a good way though on not paying all that extra interest.

          congrats! we are almost there too. all debt (save wifes car payment and mortgage) will be paid off within a year

            Never really thought about that! I guess I was always afraid that if I called and did something like that, it would affect my credit. I may give that a shot. The ones we are paying off now are where we bought things with no interest and we are getting them paid off before the interests hits. It feels good to make a plan, stick to it, and reach your goal!

            That's what I am shooting for. Her car will be paid off next year and I am trying to get these little ones paid off by then too. It's amazing how easy it is to rack up a lot of useless debt!! No more for me after this crap. It will be a cash only basis and nothing will be bought unless I have the money in the bank to pay for it....except for a car maybe.

            The 2nd job I am trying to get will have me VERY busy for a few months but it will be worth it to take all that extra income and throw it all on bills!

              good job man im glad to hear that everything is going well for you. It's a great feeling to get a card paid off. Now just keep it low and apply that money to the others. Like yous aid they will be gone and you will be debt free in no time.

              I can't wait to be debt free again. I am actually carrying debt on purpose though. I killed my credit about 7 years ago with a repo and 2 defaults. I need to carry credit to get rebuilt and established but im almost there.

                        Congrats, definitely! I need to get out from under a couple cards myself. We had been working on them and doing good with that for a couple years - and then I got laid off, and they started going the other way fro a while. I've given some thought to calling the CC companies and negotiating something, but always afraid that my credit (so far still good, and need it to stay that way) would take a huge hit. As soon as we are able to do it, we'll be back on that track though, paying it down, little by little. Congrats to you, brother.

                              Thanks!! I am slowly getting all this extra weight off my shoulders. Got to keep on hacking away at it though....May will be here very soon!

                              I have made some sacrifices that I didn't want to make but it will pay off.
