I wish someone had a pic of the side of a bike that slid 30' without sliders. ouch!!! rashed bike. and at least a grand to replace that 1 side.

My bike wasnt even broke in in that picture above^.
But you wanna get that break in oil out at least half way to a 1000miles because being the engine polishes itself. Aything in the motor will score and scratch the cylinder walls. You're a gear-head. You know what that does for compression and power.

The sliders are easy to install yourself too. You'll only have to cut the left side fairing. (See the little half moon on mine.) Just take your time with a dremel. Cut a good piece out with a cutting blade, then switch to a course sanding wheel to round it off perfect. The sliders replace the engine mounts right there. Very quick and easy. Vortex.

              Re: LOOK WHAT I GOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my brother already put them on. the bike has a few scratches where he was pulling out of his driveway after a rainstorm and hit some sand deposited by the runoff.

he put them on the same day. both the bit ones on the frame and the handlebars.

horse that silver looks great. i am not so fond of the yellow one of my buddies has.

my wife is obsessed with safety for me. she wants me to get like a whole bubble body suit, i was thinking maybe some jeans with the kevlar inserts? and maybe some leather mid top sneakers?

also what kind of helmet should i get my son? i dont wanna spend alot as he wont ride with me much but i will drop him at school occasionally and maybe at the rec center. also a kids jacket?

Thanks for the compliment on the silver. I fell for it when they released the '08 line-up online.

As for safety. Always wear the necessities. Helmet (ofcourse), good riding jacket with all the armor. Leather is best. That other stuff is only good for 1 bust. if that, before it comes apart. Gloves. Leather gaunlet gloves. Alpinestars just has everybody beat in the glove dept. Gloves last a year, maybe. A-stars last and last. I've had the pair of Alpinestar gaulntlets for over 2yrs now with not a single stitich broken. Jeans, and you want some kind of ankle protection. Even if it's a hiking or work boot...Docs whatever. A blown up ankle is bad. Not to mention they can keep your foot attached to your leg.
You can hit the asphalt at 70mph without a scrape or bruise due to your riding gear. It's a must. Road-rash alone can put you in shock, and kill ya. Ya ain't gotta worry about that with your gear.
All that said. I do have an Alpinestars Sniper jacket for those 90+degree days. But it's a solid jacket to not be leather.

HJC makes a good helmet for the money. I bought my wife one for around $129. It'll do the job. Helmet is a must! Think of everything you could put on your family, which they didn't ask for nor deserve, by not wearing one. Your life could turn into a full-time job if you bonk your head just right. And you'd never know. Your wife, or who'ever would take on the responsibility of pushing you around and feeding you would be worked to death maintaining you. I know you are getting a helmet. I just have to throw that out there. People that choose not to wear a helmet must not realize the very possible drag they could impose on their loved ones. by choice!..<--that's what gets me.

Very nice bike. Take all the right strides on safety and don't skimp.
